Kurn is the younger brother of Lt. Comdr. Worf, the strategic operations officer on Deep Space Nine. After Worf and Kurn exposed the treachery of the Duras family, a grateful Chancellor Gowron appointed Kurn to the Klingon High Council. When Gowron moved against Cardassia in 2372, he asked Worf to join him. Worf refused. Gowron stripped the family of their land, and took away Kurn’s ships and seat on the High Council. In disgrace, Kurn asked Worf to perform with him the Mauk To’Vor, taking Kurn’s life honorably. Kurn would have died if not for Dax’s intervention. Dax and Dr. Bashir found another solution. Bashir wiped Kurn’s memory engrams and surgically altered his features. Noggra, a family friend, took in Kurn and gave him the name Rodek. Left with no memory of his past, Kurn faces an unknown future.
