Salem is also a veteran of the Army Rangers who was attracted to the private sector after years of public service, but for Salem it's really about the thrill of combat and traveling the world to see different cultures shoot each other. He's been accused of being trigger-happy and has a big temper with a bigger mouth. The decline in the public's perception of PMC's has angered Salem, making him question the line between personal gain and the public good.
Rios served in the Army Rangers in Mogadishu before eventually taking an offer to move into the private military sector. Betrayed by his employer, SSC, he and his best friend, Elliot Salem, have formed their own private contracting group in Shanghai, China. When he first joined the private sector Rios believed he could help change the world, but nothing seems to make much of a difference. Today he finds himself questioning whether it's worth it to bother at all.
