Pulsar: The Ultimate Man Of Adventure! was a 14" action figure released by Mattel in 1976 along with his enemy, Hypnos, and a play-set called Pulsar's Life Systems Center, which was a medical bay style wall that Pulsar could be placed inside. I had these toys when I was a kid and they were awesome! Like a lot of properties from that era, they were also very "weird" and had no back-story.
Pulsar's clothes were made of real cloth, and you could un-velcro a white strip across his chest to reveal his torso, which was made from clear plastic, and all of his organs were visible! You could press a button on his back and his heart would beat, his lungs would breathe, and blood could be seen flowing through his veins. You could also split his head open and look at his brain, and he came with a mission program disc that could attach to a peg located on his brain. It was like Mr. Goodbody on acid! I always wonder if the people that were making toys in the mid 70s were doing drugs in the late 60s, because that would help explain what was going on in their minds when they created (awesome) properties like the Pulsar line or, for example, Gre-gory: Big Bad Vampire Bat!
Anyway, I used a DCUC Aquaman (some kinda newfangled one where he's wearing a black and blue suit), which was a perfect base for this figure. His chest and stomach were dremeled out (while taking care to maintain the integrity of the chest crunch joint), and the ribs and guts from a McFarlane Candyman figure were implanted using Aves Apoxie. His transparent torso piece and removable shoulder harness was modded from a TMNT Mutagen Man figure (which I was REALLY reluctant to destroy because I love that figure), and the opaque torso piece and shoulder pads were swiped from a Mars Attacks! figure. The helmet is a top from a shaving cream canister that was painted transparent red. His weapon/"mission program disc" is a Xena accessory.
Hope you like it, thanks for looking, and have a great day!

One of my friends had this dude and if my memory serves me, there was a button you could press and you could watch a blood like liquid circulate through his organs and all...it was pretty cool! Love this custom!

Gracias amigo - yeah I really get a cool sense of nostalgia making custom versions of all the toys I had as a kid, with the ultimate goal being to make the toy I wish it was when I actually had it! Does that make sense?
