I have had problems all my life with Bronchitis and now at 50, I now have C.O. P. D. - Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Funny thing is, I never smoked. Well I tried while I was in the army once or trice, but it nearly killed me when I died! If you are young and haven't started...PLEASE DON'T! AND if you just started, PLEASE STOP! Do you know how many action figures you can buy with that money? Anyway, 6 months ago the VA had me take a CAT scan of my lungs and they found a spot on my left lung. This past Thursday, the spot has shown signs of growth. Since I haven't smoked AND I am not coughing up any blood, I am not a high risk. Hurray for me! Being that said, cancer doesn't need tobacco use to start growing in you. I'll be going in to have a LONG needle placed into my side so they can take a sample to be tested. This being done is a RISKY procedure all by itself. Damage to my lung is possible if not done properly. It could collapse and need to be inflated...with a whole bunch of complication from that happening. There's always risk of infection too. Whatever it is...its growing and we have to know just what it is.

Am I scared? I'd be lying if I said no. My wife is a RN so I have her to explain everything in words I can understand. She's worried too and trying extremely to down play this, but nearly 25 years of marriage, I can see it in her eyes. Life is short, live smart! I haven't gotten the day I go in yet, but it should be this month.
IT'S A ALIEN FROM ANOTHER WORLD! lol
Joking a side, You all that smoke, let me be clear about this...you have every right to do so! But you place yourself at such a higher place of risk of getting cancer and even place your children are at a higher risk through your DNA! Second hand smoke, if you are around it everyday and you are breath it...it makes sense that it can be a factor! Think twice before the next time you light up, okay? Let's be super heroes and save a life!
