Searching for Dragon Ninja (?) 80s series.

Postby gahan » Sat Jul 09, 2005 6:09 pm

Hi, for years I?ve been searching all over the entire net for a series of toys which fascinated me throughout my childhood.
So far I have the following memories/ informations:

-I used to buy the figures in the mid/ late 80s in the Italian part of Switzerland.
-The series consisted of 6 or 7 fantastic figures which were very tall (4/3 of a Masters Of The Universe figure) and had multiple weapons.
-All the figures were ninjas, an evil figure had the head of a lion.
-I remember the figures to have names like f. e. Cougar Ninja or Tiger Ninja.
And most important:
-I remember the series to be called "Dragon Ninja" (?) and I found a pic on the following site:
http://www.virtualtoychest.com/gninja/gninja.html
This series has the same (?) name and the figures have similar heads and wear similar armour, but are different in design plus far more primitive and smaller.
Agglo in Hong Kong is named as manufactorer, perhaps they also produced the series I?m looking for in the 80s. Sadly, I wasn?t able find any contact information or anything.

Please help to bring some light into this confusing mess.
You are my last hope.
Please help to bring back some of my my favourite childhood memories.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Gahan... I don't seem to remember these figures. I did some searching and didn't come up with anything either. I wonder if they were released in the US?

Hey CJKToyBay if you are still out there... this is one of those good stumper series for you!

Yeesh...I don't like saying this but I honestly have no idea.

I just spent a good half hour trying to find anything online and came up with absolutely nothing. Sorry I can't be of more help but that's even way to obscure for me :?

My best guess is that they were a localized release from a small toy company. Never had a very wide distribution and thus never really made it mainstream and into US markets. Kind of like a lot of the stuff you see in dollar stores today. Problem with that is how many people do you know that collect stuff you get at the dollar store? I've collected a few lines here and there but over the years I've seen hundreds of figures go through the dollar stores. My point being they're going to be hard to find because they didn't have a big market and no tie in to anything else at the time.

About all you can do really is check eBay occasionally and maybe someday with a little luck someone will run across one someplace and throw it up for sale. Good luck with your search, if I ever run across anything I'll be sure to revive this post

I'm from Italy, maybe i know what series you mean. I had 4 ninja of that series of 1985 when i was very young and i had bought them in a kiosk (edicola). They have a coloured head like the violet head of the figure at virtual toy chest that you find: green, white, grey and one black of a different shape. They have a tattoo on the right arm and their part can be removed to assembly in one colour-custom ninja.
These are two photos of what i have now, and if you find the name, please tell me, because i'm searching for them all in good condition. Bye
