Broken Hip Joint Repair Help Marvel Icon & SOTA SF figure

I have two figures with the same broken hip joint issue. The figures are a Marvel Legends Icons Thor and a SOTA Guile. I found a You Tube Video that seems to address the issue I have. My breaks are the same as the one in the video. I can post pics if need be.

I have a few questions about the repair

1. I would have to buy a rotary tool, the glue and the brass rod. I'd like to do this through Amazon. Here are links to what I was looking to buy.

Glue- I was going to use Gorilla Glue, or is there something better and cheap/easily available that works over the long haul for plastic?
Home Depot had 1/8 Steel Rods at 36 inch length, smallest size, for 2.29. Would those work?

2. Will this repair work for the figures I'm looking to repair, or should I go a different route? I've never done a repair like this, but don't mind attempting. I'm getting a rotary tool for Christmas anyhow. Gives me something to test it out on. I don't care so much about the Guile as I do the Thor. I figured I'd use Guile as the test run. I also don't need a super high end rotary tool. just something that can get small projects done.

I'm not sure if the repair would work for your Thor as the articulation on mine is pretty tough, i'm sure it would hold it on but would you still be able to articulate the leg? The joint on the fig in the video looks pretty loose. I think it would work for Guile though as his articulation isn't that tight (at least mine isn't anyway). The joints being so tight is how I broke his leg off to begin with this morning. I was finally able to get them to break free and move. I already had the other leg done and was in the process of putting the ball on the other leg where I wanted it, and Snap! I couldn't leave well enough alone. So now, his joints are loose enough, but one leg is broken. I really won't be doing much but standing him up. I just wanted to be able to line the balls up better to get him to stand straight.

On the one you linked to, I understand where to drill the holes, but not exactly what to do with the screw. I'm guessing cut the flat head piece off and thread both ends in, then glue the figure back together?

You could do it that way or you could just thread the entire screw through the disc part, it would depend on how much space there is inside the crotch and if the screws head would fit in there.

OK, I think I got you. Bring the screw through the back side of the disc and out into the leg. Effectively making it the way it was before. Probably be studier that way. First time for me attempting this stuff.
