Never Again!

So I am repainting a Marvel Legends X- Force Deadpool in his traditional red and black duds. At the start I said this is just a simple repaint, no problem right? Wrong! The paint was not adhering to the plastic despite the fact that I scrubbed the figure down. I had to wash him a total of 4 times with scalding hot water and dish soap and at least 6 different toothbrushes. So never again will i say that repaints are easy.

Dude, what freaking paints are you using? Some paints you need to water down a bit and then by adding layers of paints, you get the job done. Remember, color first and then black last.

Model masters acrylic. This is the first time I have had thi problem with them.

I use MM and am really happy with them. Totally strange case, I'd say you bought yours from a very shitty batch.

Still having problems. I figured it out though, my brushes are making the paint go on way too thick no matter how little paint I use. They are old and the bristles need to be fixed.

Any chance they were out in the cold? I left some paints in my car over night and it was below freezing. That really messed them up. If you send off for paints in the mail, BE SURE you get them in FAST! It doesn't take long to freeze small jars or bottles of paint. I also had some craft paint the got old...a year or more, and it wouldn't stick either. be sure to take a toothpick and stir the paint good, but I am sure you've done that already. I like model Masters paint too! Mr. Hobby paint isn't bad either.

Even so, start off with a wash(a thinner to the paint in a separate jar) you can build up layers that way for a far better painted figure. oh, get new brushes!!!!

Ahhhhhhh! still not working!!!!! I am going to let the figure soak in warm soapy water over night then rub isopropynol on it then scub it six times with a nail brush to get the darn paint to stick. not even the diluted paint wash worked.

I have never had a problem with mm except till now. My room is abit drafty that might pose an issue.

the problem i was refering to fixing was my brushes not the paint.oh and the paint sticks it just scratches off real easil. Thus causing frustration.

Take some scotchbrite or 320 g sandpaper to the figure first. Break through the "sheen," or gloss. Paint needs a moderately rough (textured, not really "rough") surface to adhere to.
