Stripping off vac metal from a figure?

Postby Sullicar » Wed Mar 05, 2014 2:49 pm

Hey everyone,
I got the year of the horse Optimus Prime yesterday at TRU, and while I love the figure, I hate how all the traditionally silver parts are vac metal gold.

I want to repaint them silver, but figured I'd need to strip off the vac metal first for the paint to adhere.

Now for the question, how do I do this?

I've just painted over vac metal before. What I did was I sanded it down a bit with first rough then fine grit sand paper and then sealed it with a layer of krylon.
You'll be lucky if you're one of the few to find someone who can tolerate you.

Vac-metal is notoriously easy to rub off, so I would think it should be easy to take off with some light sanding.
