White Lantern Corps?

Notice the White panel on the far left, opposite of the Black Lantern panel. That caped guy looks like it could be a Superman of some sort, maybe Earth-2 or Kingdom Come Superman?

We just recently saw the emergence of the Black Lantern Corps and the Indigo Lanterns. The White Lanterns are the only Corps now to have not shown their faces. What do you think this means? Usually the white hats are the good guys, but everything is not always as it seems in comic books. Friends or new foes?

While this may seem a little bit obvious, that is exactly why I am going with it: I think the White Lantern Corps will show up at the end of the Blackest Night just in the nick of time to save everyone's collective butt. And I believe the White Lanterns represent life, since white is the polar opposite of Black and the Black Lanterns represent death. This also leads me to believe that the Blue Lantern Corps will have a large part in discovering them, since they will keep "hoping" (or having faith) that something will save them from the Black Lanterns.

Now this is all pure speculation, I have no evidence to support any of this...Do any of you guys have any ideas about it?

i'm really behind on my lantern stuff, the last issue of green lantern i read was i think in 1995, so you might want to fill me in on who's the black lanterns and such i'm guessing though that the whites are going to do something that seems bad but is really good though

Whew, yeah. 1995 is pretty behind, but Kyle is still my favorite GL (though he's never used to any potential anymore). There's a slew of stuff you missed that is just jaw-droppingly amazing. Pick-up these books, or at least read em at Barnes & Noble or the Library if your at all interested in Green Lantern:

-Green Lantern: Rebirth - The story of Hal Jordan separating from The Spectre and becoming a human and the main Green Lantern once again. It also puts a GL ring back on Guy Gardner's hand. The GLs and Green Arrow even battle Sinestro and Parallax in a battle for Hal's soul. This mini-series blew me away in the quality of the art and story-telling. It solidified for me what I already thought (after reading his JSA issues), Geoff Johns is the best comic writer out there today.

-Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War - One of the most entertaining super-hero comic stories EVER! And this is coming from a lifelong comic fan. It felt epic: The art was amazing, the battles were grand, the ramifications of the event are still being felt in the Green Lantern comics, and when the dust all settled, it was just the buliding blocks to the currently happening "Blackest Night" saga.

-Blackest Night - What is currently happening in the Green Lantern books, and is so big that it is affecting the rest of the DC Universe as well. The dead heroes and villains of the DC Universe are rising from their graves and attacking the living. The first to be attacked are the heroes that are alive again after being dead at one time (Such as Flash - Barry Allen, Superman, Hawkman, etc.). The story runs in a main mini-series titled "Blackest Night" and in the main Green Lantern book and Green Lantern Corps, as well as various meaningless spin-off minis and one-shpts as in any other crossover event.

My green lantern culture is deficient :( , I only know the greens, red and sinestro corps. Who are the blues, sort of blueish, purple and orange?

All this colour-related arguments are visually nice, but I think is due to lack of new ideas. All this about Red Hulks, all the colours-lantern corps, is going a bit too far for my taste.

About the White ones, I suppose they're the most powerful-and nearly divine- lantern corps that will only show at the final to maintain order in the universe as usual I think.

You must not be reading Green Lantern, then. Geoff Johns is doing some of the most original stuff with this character that has been done since Kyle took the ring. The different colors make perfect sense, actually. As any Green Lantern fan will tell you, the energy behind Green Lantern's power is Willpower. That is what drives the ring, without a lot of willpower behind it, the ring is useless.

Now, the other colors are representative of the emotional spectrum. Green Lantern's willpower, is right in the middle of the emotional spectrum; the most manageable emotion. On the other two ends of the spectrum are the uncontrollable Rage (Red) at one end, and the unpredictable Love (Purple) at the other, and everything in-between.

The Guardians of the Universe have been harvesting Willpower for their GL Corps' energy for centuries. Now other beings in the universe are harvesting other emotions from the emotional spectrum of the universe and using their power for their own Corps.

So far, we have the following:

THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS:
Image

Created by the Guardians of the Universe. They were the first corps to be formed to serve as protectors of all sectors of space. Their power rings are powered by willpower. The Green Central Power Battery is located on the planet Oa. They have their own separate oath:
"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power...Green Lantern's light!"

THE BLACK LANTERN CORPS:
Image
The Black Lantern Corps are dispatched by what many fans believe is the Anti-Monitor and/or Death itself. This mysterious entity has named longtime foe of GL-Hal Jordan, Black Hand, as leader of this new Corps. It's goal is to extinguish all life and light from the universe. The Corps members are reanimated corpses of deceased DC Universe heroes and villains, and their attack on the DC Universe has just begun. The first members to have appeared include Black Hand, Terra (from New Teen Titans), Aquaman, Hawkman & Hawkgirl, Elongated Man & Sue Dibney, Martian Manhunter, the entire dead planet of Xanashi (destroy early in GL-John Stewart's career), and Superman of Earth-2.

THE SINESTRO CORPS:
Image

Created by Sinestro and the Anti-Monitor. Their power rings are powered by fear. The Central Power Battery is located on the planet Qward. They have recently lost a large cosmic war fought against The Green Lantern Corps and are picking up the pieces. Mongul is currently trying to usurp control of the Sinestro Corps during the aftermath of the recent war. They have their own separate oath:
"In blackest day, in brightest night,
Beware your fears made into light.
Let those who try to stop what's right,
Burn like his power... Sinestro's might!"

THE RED LANTERN CORPS:
Image

Created by the remnants of the Empire of Tears. Their power rings are fueled by rage/hate. Atrocitus is the first to become a red lantern. A former "lost Lantern," Laira, is quickly recruited as well. Another recent member includes Dax-Ur, an alien cat who is the first to attack a member of another corps. Upon putting on a charged red ring, the wearer's heart is destroyed and ejected in vomit, as is the wearer's blood. The ring then pumps liquified rage into the body, which is also ejected through the mouth. Although the Red Lanterns have been seen creating energy constructs most of their energy blasts appear as flame which can burn in space. Much of the designs of the Red Lanterns has been based on making creatures that look brutal. They have their own separate oath:
"With blood and rage of crimson red,
Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead,
Together with our hellish hate,
We'll burn you all--
That is your fate!"

THE STAR SAPPHIRE CORPS:
Image

Created by the Zamarons. Their rings are powered by the violet light of love. The Star Sapphire functions as their Central Power Battery.[1] The first recruit was Miri Riam of the planet Lartnec, who had just lost her husband to an attack by Mongul. The second Star Sapphire to be recruited is the villain Fatality, who has plagued the Green Lantern Corps in the past. It's unknown if they have any oath. As they are on the direct opposite side of the spectrum as Red, it is likely violet rings have great influence over their wearer as well.

THE BLUE LANTERN CORPS:
Image

Created by Ganthet and Sayd. Their rings are powered by hope. Saint Walker is the first Blue Lantern to appear. The second is an elephant like alien monk named Warth. According to Geoff Johns, there will be a Blue Lantern walrus named Baboo. Blue Lanterns appear capable of harnessing the hope of those around them to fuel their abilities, such as reviving a dying star and saving an entire planet by harnessing the hope of the individuals on the planet. Unlike the Green Lanterns, whose constructs are determined by the one creating them, the Blue Lantern constructs are based on the mind of one they are being used on. The Blue Central Power Battery is located on the planet Odym, which orbits what humans call the North Star. Saint Walker indicated that Ganthet and Sayd intend for Hal Jordan to leave the Green Lantern Corps and become the new leader of the Blue Lantern Corps. Much of the designs of the Blue Lanterns have been based on the friendlier looking aliens from Star Wars, in order to make them look more noble as opposed to the aliens from the other corps. They have their own separate oath:
In fearful day, in raging night,
With strong hearts full, our souls ignite
When all seems lost in the War of Light
Look to the stars...
For hope burns bright!

THE INDIGO LANTERN CORPS:
Image

The Indigo Lanterns wield staffs powered by compassion. The wielders resemble shaman and tattoo their bodies with the symbol of their Corps. They didn't made their presence known but they appear to be neutral in the war helping injured on both sides. It remains to be seen if they'll have their own oath and where their Central Power Battery is located.

AGENT ORANGE:
Image

His ring us powered by avarice (greed) which is being sought by the Controllers. Agent Orange is consumed by his greed and he alone controls the Orange Power. His ring "consumes" beings and power and then replicates exact copies of them out of Orange Energy that fall under Agent Orange's complete control.

this is my theory :D

since the black rings reanimate dead bodies, however still leave the wearer as a undead corpse under the control of black hand maybe the white rings fully revieve the dead corpse into a living being breaking the control black hand has over them, this idea would allow dead heroes come back as human and join continunity again, aswell as defeating the black lantern corpse :D

btw all these colours remind me of power rangers :)
