Haley as Sinestro? That’s News to Green Lantern Director
Comic Book Movie News, Green Lantern (2011) Movie — By Nix on January 16, 2010
Well, this is interesting and, in my opinion, better news — according to “Green Lantern” director Martin Campbell, the persistent rumors of “Watchmen’s” Jackie Earle Haley playing Sinestro is not correct. As in, not in the least. According to Campbell, who should know since, well, he’s directing the thing, the man he wants, and who is currently in talks for the role is Mark Strong, who is making quite the fabulous living playing bad guys in films like “Sherlock Holmes” and the upcoming “Kick bum”. He’s also in Ridley Scott’s “Robin Hood”, no doubt as a scoundrel.
Campbell tells MTV:
“In fact, we’re in negotiations with Mark Strong to play Sinestro. He’s not only a wonderful actor, but he looks like Sinestro. If you look up old pictures of Sinestro, he’s very like him. The Jackie Earle Haley thing, somebody told me about it this morning; I had never heard it before in my life.”
Look, I’m a fan of Haley as much as the next guy, but fanboys can be so persistently idiotic sometimes, especially when they cotton to someone they want that guy to play every role in existence, even if he’s not right for it in the least. I call it the Nathan Fillion Syndrome.
Campbell also confirms that comic fan fave Kilowog, along with Tomar-Re will also be making appearances in “Green Lantern”. The epic comic book movie is set to star Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, the human turned intergalactic space cop, with Blake Lively as his love interest. Peter Sarsgaard was recently announced as one of the film’s villains.http://www.beyondhollywood.com/haley-as ... -director/The Tekken Live-Action Movie Trailer Finally Punches its Way Online
Tekken (2010) Movie, Videos — By Nix on January 15, 2010
It’s not the best of qualities, but it is indeed the first trailer for the live-action “Tekken” movie from director Dwight H. Little, which has popped up online. From the trailer, the film’s lead looks like Jin Kazama, played by newcomer Jon Foo, who apparently had a role in “Universal Soldier: Regeneration”, though I don’t recall seeing him in the movie. The female lead looks like Kelly Overton, here playing Christie Monteiro. The cast also includes MMA fighter Cung Le, Luke Goss, Gary Daniels, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Ian Anthony Dale, Chiaki Kuriyama, and Tamlyn Tomita. If you’re a fan of the game, this might interest you. If not, it probably won’t.
There’s no release date yet, and I doubt if Stateside fans will get the film in theaters. It’ll probably open on the big screen in Asia and other parts of the planet, but land on DVD in the States. That’s usually how these long-gestating films turn up.
