Horror hero Bruce Campbell (The Evil Dead trilogy) just broke some mega news over at AICN. The horror funnyman just revealed that Bruce Vs. Frankenstein, the sequel to My Name is Bruce, begins production this fall! "The fans deserve to know, so with great trepidation I officially announce Bruce Vs. Frankenstein, the sequel to My Name is Bruce. Principal photography begins this fall in Oregon." The film was originally titled My Name is Still Bruce. I was a pretty big fan of the first film as it was an honest reflection of Campbell by Campbell, unlike the overhyped JCVD (what a joke).

A New Battle For Mankind Begins in 'Mortal Kombat' Tourney,

Postby Golden Wolf » Mon Jan 25, 2010 8:35 pm

Bloody Disgusting received word that Warner Bros. Pictures has been looking to redo Mortal Kombat with Oren Uziel in talks to write. Based on Midway's popular 1992 video game, the franchise follows the best fighters from around the globe who are summoned to an island to compete in a tournament whose outcome will determine the fate of the entire planet. Uziel's Shimmer Lake made the 2009 black list, which features the best unproduced screenplays around Hollywood. Johnny Cage was modeled after Jean-Claude Van Damme. No word on the progress of the remake, but we'd like to see a hard "R" version with some actual f*cking fatalities.

AMC Greenlights Darabont’s The Walking Dead
Comic Book Movie News, Horror Movie News, TV News, The Walking Dead TV Series — By Nix on January 21, 2010

Like zombies? Funny zombies? Serious zombies? Zombies in the movies? Well now you’re gonna get plenty of zombies on TV, too, because AMC has just greenlighted Frank Darabont’s adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s “The Walking Dead” comic books. Frank Darabont and Gale Anne Hurd will produce the tale of a police officer from a small town who wakes up to find the world infested with zombies, and must locate his missing wife and child in the overrun world. I read the first 10 issues or so of the comics, and found it to be pretty decent, even if the premise is perhaps a little too “28 Days Later”-ish.

'Dead Cert'

Postby Golden Wolf » Mon Jan 25, 2010 8:38 pm

The filmmakers behind Dead Cert have uploaded some footage from the their first seven days of shooting to YouTube, all of which can be viewed by reading beyond the break. Starring Craig Fairbrass (White Noise 2) and Billy Murray (Doghouse), director Steve Lawson's Dead Cert follows a gang of tough London gangsters get more than they bargained for when a group of businessmen make an offer to buy their club, the Inferno. They turn out to be nothing less than Vampires wanting their land back and turn viciously on the gangsters when their demands are not met. 3D 'Gremlins' ?

Postby Golden Wolf » Mon Jan 25, 2010 8:40 pm

Could a third Gremlins movie finally be in the works? Website Market Saw is reporting that not only is a third film in development, but it's being planned in 3-D. I'm not exactly sure how you even come to this conclusion when a script isn't even being worked on, or maybe it's just safe to assume any movie in development could arrive in 3-D? Hopefully something official will be announced soon; I pray this isn't a Warner Bros. Premiere title (their straight-to-disc distribution label). Joe Dante had recently talked Gremlins 3 with BD back in April where he confirmed he would not direct assuming it ever happened.

Hawaiian Conan !!!!!!!

Postby Golden Wolf » Mon Jan 25, 2010 8:54 pm

By Crom! Stargate’s Jason Momoa to Star in Conan Reboot
Conan the Barbarian (Remake, 2010) Movie — By Nix on January 22, 2010

After months of searching high and low and scouring the troll-ridden hillsides and alleyways of Hollywood, Nu Image and Millenium Films have found their Conan. His name is Jason Momoa, who fans of “Stargate” will recognize as Ronon Dex from the “Atlantis” iteration. If you were looking for a physical presence, the 6′4″ Hawaiian native certainly qualifies. Apparently the casting came down to two actors, Momoa and “Twilight’s” Kellan Lutz, with Momoa officially offered the job today. It’s interesting that it came down to Momoa and Lutz, because the two guys couldn’t look more different; in a way, you get a feeling the direction the studio and director Marcus Nispel are going with the casting of Momoa.

Nispel, apparently the go-to guy for franchise reboots (having rebooted the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “Friday the 13th” franchises), will direct “Conan the Barbarian”, which is scheduled to shoot mid-March on location in Bulgaria. For plot details, head over here.

Here’s a side-by-side of the final two candidates for “Conan”. As you can see, they couldn’t be more different, both in terms of physical size and, well, in Lutz’s case, “boy band looks”. So the fact that Nispel and the studio went with Momoa should probably give us a hint of what kind of a movie (in particular, the vibe) they’re going for.

By Crom Part 2! Mickey Rourke is Conan’s Dad?
Conan the Barbarian (Remake, 2010) Movie — By Nix on January 22, 2010

Yes, according to the guys over at Latino Review, who claims that they’ve been told that “an offer” has been made to Mickey Rourke
to play Conan’s dear ol pop, Corin. In the plot details that I’ve read, Corin dies very early on in the movie, when Conan is still a boy, setting up the hero’s quest for vengeance. Which means there won’t be any scenes between Rourke and the just-announced new Conan himself, Jason Momoa, so the lack of resemblance between the two is moot, i suppose.

Up next for the wide world of “Conan” casting? Tamara, the female lead, and Khalar Singh, the main bad guy.

Supernatural Fans Know The Ghostfacers -Well There Here !

Postby Golden Wolf » Tue Jan 26, 2010 11:51 pm

GHOSTFACERS, SUPERNATURAL WEB SPINOFF

Via Variety:

"McG's Wonderland shingle and Warner Bros. TV are plotting a spinoff to the CW's long-running spooky drama "Supernatural."
But rather than produce it for TV, the new show -- "Ghostfacers" -- is heading straight for the Internet.

"Ghostfacers" reps the latest expansion into the digital studio space for Wonderland, which is producing the "Supernatural" spinoff with Warner Bros. TV's Studio 2.0.

In a twist, "Ghostfacers" will preem on TheWB.com -- the interactive/video-on-demand website that emerged from the ashes of the WB television network (where "Supernatural" first bowed). The series will also appear on the CW's website.

Wonderland has already begun production on the project, which will initially run as 10 three-minute episodes.

"Ghostfacers" follows a team of ghost hunters who tape their exploits in documentary fashion.

"It felt like the nature and style of what they do with their show-within-a-show would be fun to see in new media," said Wonderland TV topper Peter Johnson. "It's a fun, subversive way to allow these characters to play in the margins."

The somewhat comedic group first appeared on the first season of "Supernatural" (and were created for the show by Trey Callaway for the episode "Hell House") and also returned in season three, in the episode "Ghostfacers," by Ben Edlund.

According to Johnson, the "Ghostfacers" characters have already spawned a convention in London.

New series' first installment will follow the "Ghostfacers" as they investigate a theater believed to be haunted by the ghost of a young starlet (played by "Nip/Tuck" alum Kelly Carlson).

"Ghostfacers" stars A.J. Buckley ("CSI: NY"), Travis Wester ("Bones"), Brittany Ishibashi ("Supernatural") and Austin Basis ("Life Unexpected").

Besides starring in "Ghostfacers," Buckley and Wester are also writers on the project, along with Patrick Doody and Chris Valenziano. "Ghostfacers" is exec produced by McG, Peter Johnson, Jeff Grosvenor, Eric Kripke and Phil Sgriccia.

The web series reps the latest cross-media extension for "Supernatural," which has spawned 18 comic books, several novels and an official magazine. Another round of six comic books are in the works as well.

"'Supernatural' has sprung forth beyond the TV show," said Johnson. "The mother series seems flexible enough to allow our creative talent to pursue some of these other arenas."

Beyond the webisodes, TheWB.com and CWTV.com will also include other "Ghostfacers" content, such as gag reels, behind-the-scenes videos, photo galleries and actor confessionals. More mythology will also be uploaded to a dedicated "Ghostfacers" website.

Wonderland has also been behind the web series "Sorority Forever" and "Exposed." Going forward, however, Johnson said the company's digital studio output will focus on extensions of the production shingle's TV and film projects.

"Supernatural" is in its fifth season on the air."
