Bandai Mighty Morphin 2010 Price = No logic

Postby ryuskrew » Sun Sep 04, 2011 10:59 am

So, I've been collecting Bandai's line of MMPR from 2010, and currently have every ranger except the yellow. I've done a lot of price checking throughout the internet, and it seems that aside from the obvious (Megazord), that the yellow will actually be the most expensive.

For the 1st wave, you generally have to pay 30-50 dollars per ranger. Lucky for me, I picked up the Green Ranger (I can't actually remember if he's 1st or 2nd wave) which they list now as about 30 or so dollars.

In checking out the prices on the Yellow ranger, I've found her to be the most expensive. Toywiz is sold out of both versions (Wave 1/Wave 2, even though it's just a repackaging with different accessories). Checking Amazon, the cheapest one I could find is $54 dollars. And that's a Wave 2 version (which you would imagine would be cheaper).

The thing I really don't understand is, she's more expensive than the Green/White and Black rangers. I thought that the Black ranger would be the most expensive, seeing as he's really the coolest looking one (in my opinion), but no. It's the yellow ranger. And I'm talking about the poseable/quality made ones, not the ones you buy in boxed sets or in the bubble packaging.

The only reason I could even see why the yellow would be the most expensive is that the actor is dead. But still, it doesn't make any sense to me.

Can anybody come up with any sort of logical reason as to why she's so expensive?

Toy companies ofter produce less of the figures that they think wont sell as well. I don't know much about power rangers but my guess would be that they made less of the yellow ranger because they didn't think many would sell and they miscalculated enough that she is actually the rare one now. But that's just speculation on my part. Good luck finding one I know how hard it is to find some figures. I've been looking for a GLC Kyle Raynere and I can't find one for the life of me ](*,)
You'll be lucky if you're one of the few to find someone who can tolerate you.

How much did the pink ranger cost you? I'm just wondering since, if I remember right, the pink ranger was more popular than yellow, but with higher demand she should have cost about the same. In the end though, it all falls back to the (outdated) idea that female figures don't sell very well. Since yellow was less popular than pink, she would have had the lowest production numbers.

Surprisingly, the pink ranger was one of the ones I found in stores, so I only had to pay like 8 or so dollars for it. The most I've seen for the pink ranger is about 20 I think. The lower production numbers DOES make sense, since I'd imagine that yellow would be the least favorite (well, she's the last one I'm buying! So it does make sense!)

Well the passing of the actress who played the yellow ranger MAY have played a part in the increased price.

I've seen tons of yellow rangers in shops over here, not sure if they're the ones you're after but if you post a pic i'll check.

That's sort of what I was thinking, seeing as the rest of the actors are still alive. So it's either that or the lower production rates as she could be the least popular ranger.

It'd be in this sort of packaging (not the bubble packaging, as those figures are far less detailed and lack articulation), you'd more than likely see this version as opposed to the one with the Dino Flier, because for some reason those are harder to find (possibly because there wasn't that many released/Wave 1 also).
