Dust prevention?

Postby Bloodywolf » Fri Aug 02, 2013 4:59 pm

I am having trouble keeping the dust off my figures on the shelf. I periodically dust the shelves but a lot of my older figures are like dust magnets especially my customs. For my customs its probably either due to the cheaper craft paints that I use or the spray sealer or both lol. The customs turn out pretty well initially, but after a while the dust and lint is everywhere! and try as I might i can't get rid of it completely.

Any tips for keeping the dust under control on my collection? After all Im trying to collect action figures, not dust.

Sadly dust is a fact life, especially for action figure collectors. The only way to keep dust to a minimum is regular dusting, even then you're just disturbing the dust and allowing it to settle on other pieces. You're most likely right about the sealer attracting more dust especially on soft plastic parts such as cloaks and skirts. One way of ensuring a dust free collection is to use sealed glass or plastic cases or glass display cabinets.

It's a sad fact for collectors of anything and if you're in an older house there's more dust that shows up. Unless you store them in a sealed case they'll get dusty and even at that dust will find a way in. I've noticed the only cases that stop them are the ones for model cars and sports items where the lid sits down on the base.
