I was dusting my shelf today and was wondering, should the artists who sculpt the toys get credit? I think its retarded they dont. There are some who do(art asylum most notably) and I got a Killer Croc figure that was from a line that did name the sculpter but why not on everything? I would love to know who did the ML Ghost Rider. I would be more apt to try a new series if I was following a certian guy.

Maybe toy-companies don't want to pay the extra 1/10th of a cent to print the sculptor's name?

Ah, then they should just make the sculptor sign a waiver for that. That's what they do with everything that could potentially cause them financial harm anyway.

"I, Super Cool Sculptor, promise not to ask for or collect royalties from anything with my name on it."

"I, Ross Employee, promise not to sue the store for anything bad that may happen to me."

I concur with you Hawkeye, I would like to see that too. But as a buisness owner and a colaberater in a lot of piece made by other guys I understand the law is against it unless the companies want to pay royalties. They have signed a waver so can not be given credit on the packaging. If the are given credit they can can sue for anything as dumb as change in packaging. There is a about 30 different reasons the could sue if thier name is on the package. So they sign a waver sayig they will only get royalties under special circumstances that are written into their contract.

Sueing, another reason I hate people. If you scratch someone's car, they want 2 million dollars for emotional trauma and another 3 million to repair their Lamborgini's scratch. If a customer spills their soda on the floor at K-Mart (for which there is a sign that says NO FOOD or DRINKS) and they slip and get a bruise, they sue the store for millions for not having a sign that says DON'T SLIP ON WATER!

People are dorks. I think the sculptor should be able to have his name on the package if he wanted.

If anything I think figures should come in blistered packaging to keep costs down like the short packed LOTR last waves
Then the companies could put the artists name on it

Comics and Games are multimillion dollar industries but they still and always have credited the people that produces the product

But I do also see the downside to having the artists name grace the product as Bob has outlined

Hey we are all people and I don't think most of us here would do that. Well maybe if it was a lamborgini and I owned it but thats because I can't even dream of owning one of them.

I had car accident in the company truck and the other guy thought he hit the jackppot. I called in right after and the other guy was on the phone calling them too saying he was hurt and his car was totaled(there was a small scracth). People suck sometimes.

My fiancee rearended a guy like 5 years ago and about 3 months ago he filed a lawsuit saying that he had emotional trauma and terrible pain and needed to be compensated for his mental anguish. Her dad called the guy's lawyer and said he'd subpoena his medical history and psychiatric history just to show how nuts he was that a minor fenderbender would make his life living hell for 5 years. That guy dropped the case.
