COG Soldier
The Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) Soldiers are the only force strong enough to resist the subterranean genocidal monsters known as the Locust Horde. Armed with their snub pistol, Lancer Assault Rifle, and chainsaw bayonet, they fight to ensure the safety of mankind. Their moniker derives from the oath of allegiance they swear to the Coalition: Every COG soldier pledges their place in the Infinite Machine and as such, becomes a "Gear".

Colonel Victor Hoffman
Colonel Victor Hoffman is a decorated veteran of the COG's bloodiest battles. He's risen form the enlisted ranks to the military's highest command. Always in his armor and ready for a fight. He leads from the front and not from his desk. Marcus Fenix and Hoffman have a drudging mutual respect despite their bitter clashes.

Grenadier Beast Rider
Grenadiers act as the Locust Horde's Shock Troops. Armed with a Gnasher shotgun and fragmentation grenades, Grenadiers prefer to attack from close range and decimate enemy ranks with their opening salvo. The Beast Rider controls and pilots the monstrous creatures found in the Hollow including the deadly Blood Mounts, the Flying Reavers and even the gigantic Brumaks.

Boomer
As if Locust Drones weren't bad enough, Boomers are bigger, tougher and carry the Boomshot grenade launcher. Named for their monotone battle cry "Boom!", they exist in a state of perpetual hunger. It is this insatiable need for sustenance that drives them. Boomers never stop hunting and killing, and the only time a Gear will see a Boomer lie down is when it is dead. What they lack in brains, they more than make up for in brawn� and explosive weaponry.
