New Tekken Trailer & Images

Postby Golden Wolf » Thu Feb 18, 2010 12:16 am

http://www.beyondhollywood.com/tekken-j ... ew-images/

Like another movie based on a popular fighting game, Dwight Little’s “Tekken” looks like it’s getting the heavy Asian push, but anyone outside of the Continent will have to rely on the Internet to get anything decent until the film finally (if it does, that is) make it to the States. I’m talking about “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li”, of course. That movie, er, was not so good. Hopefully “Tekken” will be better. In any case, thanks to eagle-eye reader IronFist, it looks like the official Japanese “Tekken” site has updated with a new batch of images from the movie, including a new Japanese-subtitled trailer. Check them out below.

Based on the popular fighting videogame of the same name, “Tekken” is a high-octane action movie about a young man named Jin Kazama (Jon Foo) who discovers that holds a great power and must battle a team of elite fighters in a tournament called Tekken who will stop at nothing in order to get it from him.

Starring Luke Goss, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Chiaki Kuriyama, Darrin Dewitt Henson, Jon Foo, Gary Daniels, Kelly Overton, Cung Le, Ian Anthony Dale, Lateef Crowder, Mircea Monroe, Tamlyn Tomita, Candice Hillebrand, and directed by Dwight H. Little.

Looks like we’re still looking at a 2010 release, though when exactly is anybody’s guess.

More Images.

Oscar Nominee Jeremy Renner Flies Into Edgar Allan Poe Tale

Postby Golden Wolf » Thu Feb 18, 2010 7:44 pm

Sure he starred in 28 Weeks Later, but it wasn't until The Hurt Locker's success that star Jeremy Renner got the street cred he deserved. The NY Times is reporting that Renner will topline the indie period thriller The Raven alongside Ewan McGregor. "('Locker' has) allowed me to exhale and go, 'OK, now I can really start,'" Renner says. "Maybe it's a form of arrival, maybe it's a type of beginning." It doesn't specify which Raven they're referring to, but it could be James McTeigue's spin that is set in the last days of Edgar Allan Poe's life, when he gets wrapped up in a serial killer investigation. FilmNation Entertainment and Endgame are producing. Renner is also in talks with Universal and director Peter Berg about taking the lead role in Battleship.

If You Havent seen Hurt Locker Check It Out It Is A Awesome Film It Better Win A Few Oscars & J. Renner Is A Great Actor So This Should Be A Good One!

Must See of the Day: Ass-Kicking 10-Year-Old vs the Apocalyp

Postby Golden Wolf » Thu Feb 18, 2010 7:54 pm

I love the random sh*t that pops up online now that any Joe Schmoe can get their hands on a camera and editing tools. Beyond the break you'll find a 1 minute long teaser for Judd L. Tilyard's short film, Frame 137, which is a sci-fi action piece based on the work of "Crow" creator James O'Barr (with his permission). Why so cool? Sh*t, it features a 10-year-old boy beating the living crap out of a bunch of post-apocalyptic survivor fools. The film was shot on the RED using Lomo Anamorphic Lens over a weekend. Sam Ransom, the 10-year-old boy who plays Jonny Z, performed all of his own stunts including the fire breathing and wire-work!!! Someone give this dude some money STAT!

The Collector On DVD

Postby Golden Wolf » Fri Feb 19, 2010 12:16 am

The Collector. Pick it up on April 6 with the following features: Filmmaker audio commentary, deleted scenes, alternate ending, soundtrack song preview & a music video.

The Collector follows the story of handyman and ex-con Arkin, who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employer’s country home. Unfortunately for Arkin, a far worse enemy has already laid claim to the property – and the family. As the seconds tick down to midnight, Arkin becomes a reluctant hero trapped by a masked “Collector” in a maze of lethal invention – the Spanish Inquisition as imagined by Rube Goldberg – while trying to rescue the very family he came to rob.

I think that The Collector was one of the most underrated horror flicks of last year. Check it out.

This Is Posted On Fear Net But I Agree With It 100% I Saw this Movie Ayear Ago & Again Last Week It Rocks so If You Cant wait To Own It Lace Up Your Mask ! It's Available At BlockBuster Now !

Wesley Snipes Wants in Fourth 'Blade'

A bit of non-news over at Arrowinthehead that offers up some food for thought. During a junket for Brooklyn's Finest, Wesley Snipes told the site that there's talk of a fourth Blade film and that he's interested in doing it. Well, as previously reported on various occasions (most notably October 2007), the fourth Blade movie would be a REBOOT of the franchise, thus making it highly unlikely that Snipes would return. Plus, why would New Line work with Snipes again after allegedly attacking David Goyer on the set of Blade: Trinity (I never noticed what a dumb title that was)? At one point there was a rumor of a prequel, but the source was deemed unreliable.

From Fear Net - Quentin Tarantino: Writer, Producer, Director...Landlord?

When I moved to L.A. just over a year ago, there were only a handful of places I really wanted to live near. One of which was the New Beverly Cinema. New Beverly is hands down THE place to go for repertory cinema in L.A.. Sure there are other venues that show classic films in and around the Los Angeles area, but nobody does it like New Bev. The entire experience of going to the New Bev from the $8 double features to the so-cheap-you-could-hardly-refuse concessions is like a trip back in time. And the folks that work there are not only passionate about cinema, they're also super cool. Times have been tough for the New Bev and the Torgan family that owns it. When Sherman Torgan passed away, the family took over the struggling cinema and now thanks to Quentin Tarantino, the New Bev will be here for years to come, because he just bought the place.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Tarantino had heard the theater was in financial trouble and got in touch with Sherman Torgan to see how much money he needed a month to keep up the theater. "The answer was about $5,000," Tarantino said. "So, I just started paying him that per month. I considered it a contribution to cinema."

But when Sherman passed away in 2007, the landlord was quick to react, "Within a week of my father's death, the landlord had a buyer bidding for the theater space," said Michael Torgan, Sherman's son. "Fortunately, I found a copy of our original lease, and it said that the family had the right of first refusal if we could find another buyer."

After months of haggling, Tarantino was successful in his buyout and now owns the space outright.

Although Tarantino will make programming suggestions from time to time, he pretty much let's the Torgan's run the theater how they see fit.

Recently theater regulars have seen new lights and seats put in. According to Tarantino, "As long as I'm alive, and as long as I'm rich, the New Beverly will be there, showing double features in 35mm."

When I think about some of the movies I've seen at the New Bev, I get all giddy. Weird Science and Blazing Saddles top the non-genre stuff. But when it comes to horror, I've had the pleasure of seeing films like Halloween 2 (1981), Dread, Dario Argento's Inferno (with musician Keith Emmerson in attendance), An American Werewolf in London and an Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness triple feature to name a few.

Tonight and tomorrow director Jason Reitman is presenting a double feature of Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Election (with promised special guests) and this Saturday at Midnight, Shock Till You Drop is hosting a screening of the 1984 killer pig flick Razorback with director Russell Mulcahy in attendance. How can you refuse?

All the Cool TV Kids Want to be Captain America

Postby Golden Wolf » Mon Mar 01, 2010 11:24 pm

Deadline.com has gotten their hands on a list of potential candidates that Marvel Studios is currently testing for the lead in their “The First Avenger: Captain America”. To no one’s surprise, a lot of the names are unknown TV actors, and even the known ones are only known if you watch girly TV shows, which would make you kind of girly. Deadline also says Marvel is once again being tight with the purse strings, which means the actor who gets the gig will be signed on for multiple films while getting very little upfront. As Terrence Howard can tell you, Marvel tends to be cheap bastards. And in this case, they can afford to be: a role as Captain America is the kind of role that makes careers.

The actors currently being tested for “Captain America” include the ones listed below. They are by no means the entire list, but Deadline seems to think these are the top contenders. Note: I’ve used the most “action” pics of each candidate I could find.

First Look at Robert Rodroguez Produced 'Predators'

First Look at Robert Rodroguez Produced 'Predators'

All of you lucky basterds heading to Austin, Texas next week get ready for a whopper of a surprise. South by Southwest (SXSW) has set a First Look showing of Predators with producer Robert Rodriguez and director Nimrod Antal presenting on March 12 at the Alamo Ritz Theater. For more information, head on over to best-selling author Corey Mitchell's official festival blog that we recently set up here on BD. He'll be doing coverage of all sorts of ongoing festivities across the country. Predators will arrive in theaters July 9 from 20th Century Fox. In this version, a group of humans will find themselves stranded on a planet home to Predators and must survive the horrors they encounter. James Cameron pulled a similar move with his advancement of the Alien franchise in his Aliens.

Wesley Snipes Continues to Dream Fourth 'Blade'

Postby Golden Wolf » Thu Mar 04, 2010 11:39 pm

By: MrDisgusting

I'm getting a kick out of of these interview with Wesley Snipes regarding a potential fourth Blade, especially because the plan is to reboot it and second because there's no way in hell New Line will greenlight a new Blade film after the previous film's performance. In fact, we're still waiting for a new Friday the 13th... keep dreaming Mr. Snipes, and dreaming he shall do. "The first and the second one were experiments, and we started to get better," he tells MTV obviously having never watched any of his own films. "If we do another one, it will reflect our maturity and our better understanding of the genre." One smart remark is that he suggested "a larger, multiracial cast, and it would be great to have some rehearsals before some of the action sequences," he laughed. Food for thought: some of the best movies are conceived around a solid multiracial cast (Predator and Aliens to name a few).
