Ok, this definitely isn't a free one (for the business running it). The company web page for the software doesn't specifically mention the IRC piece, but it looks like the licensing costs $250 to purchase the software plus $250 / year.

Hopefully something cheaper (or free ) will pop up.

Might I suggest getting a chatroom reserved then just linking to it?

If we pick a server we can create a permanent chat channel for free and access it through a chat client that is external from the website. Like I said earily mIRC is free* but there are other java based chat clients out there that may be free.

* Unless it has been fixed, after the 30 day "trial" you can simply continue to click "register later" and continue using the program, I won't know for a month if this still holds true so it might be better to find one that is completely free.

I like the idea of the chat room but don't like the idea of the wranking sistem. I had an idea that anyone who wanted too shoold be able too donate prizes fore the custom contests.

Yes leafman343, I used mirc a long long time ago. It seemed to work really well. Ideally, I'd like to find something that would support both.
