Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas?

I'm in a bit of a Christmasy mood today, and got to thinking about how as of late, you never hear anyone say Merry Christmas anymore, it's always Happy Holidays. My mom was actually bitching about this the other day. So what do you say, and what are your thoughts on this phenomenon?

I hear ya bob, Christmas is just another reason to spend money i don't have on stuff I don't need. My wife is obsessed with making this Christmas special too with it being our boys first one. I say he's too young to appreciate it and it's not like he'll remember in a years time. Wonder if I could get away with spitting in my wife's face

Okay i give you major credit for that one lol. Funny thing is alot of black people don't like the African American thing, it's up there with "what the h3ll is Kwanza" Everyone loves labels. I'm welsh, irish, scottish and a bunch of others but I'm an American with those backgrounds. I'm now welsh american. pick one and shut the frag up people. Actually these PC folks who like insert race here-American titles do deserve one. Dbag Americans.

Agreed, I'm English always have been always will be but my ancestory has me as a Canadian, Welsh, Englishman. I'll just stick to English.

If anyone does ask about my ancestry I just say Celt since that covers the entire UK area. It's Merry christmas or happy holidays as both were interchangeable before the PC revolution. Usually I do happy holidays after xmas since it covers xmas and new years. or this time of year it's the traditional "shut up, pay for your crap, and get out of the freaking line because i'm in no mood for idiots while shopping" lol.

lol I know but i count them now since there are so many irish and scottish folk living there. Also wales is counted though nobody really pays attention to the welsh

Interesting, I knew this thread would get some good replies, if someone says something to me (whether it be Merry christmas or Happy Holidays) I simply say, "Same to you, but more of it." lol Gets the message across, and lets people know just how douchey I can be with this stuff.

Meh christmas is easy to enjoy just understand the rules.

When your young: enjoy it for yourself.

When your a bit older: enjoy it for your parents

Older still: enjoy it for your kids and or spouse

Even older: enjoy it for all the people you have been blessed to have.

I can get behind this way of thinking, but their are exceptions to the rules....which leads to hate of the holiday.
1. Your family is dead broke(no presents or holiday meal) and one or both of your parents is a drunken a$$hole who like to beat on you.(no family bonding)
2. See number 1.
3. You are single and have to rug-rats OR you are dead broke and/or a drunken a$$hole who likes to beat on your kids and/or spouse therefor the holiday is craptastic for all those you come in contact with.
4. See all the above.

I am single with no kids, therefor, I see Christmas as just another day.
On a side note: I would like to choke everyone of those bell-ringing, money-beggars that the Salvation Army post at every mall and store.

this time of year makes me want to see how far i can kick screaming little brats, tackle old folks who need to order from catalogs, and generally stupid folks who take forever to pay i nline. have the freakin cash or check or whatever in hand you moron. or worse the ones who cant' figure out the atm/credit machine at the register. now i have issues at times because every store is different with these but these morons act like they're trying to deactivate a nuke and stare at it. Mind you i'm actually like this with folks in general, which is why i can only be out ofr about 2 hours without an anxiety attack, and the worst are drivers. theyr'e stupid on good days but now that it is snowing oh crap its like everyone rushing to win a darwin award. on the bright side i can insult annoying cashiers with a "ho ho ho" and not get slapped for it.

I'd be one of those people who takes for ever to pay, I could never get my head around adding tax to stuff in the states. There was a few times I had the embarrasing moment when you forget and then don't have enough money to pay the tax. Oh and what's with tipping the staff at McDonalds??
