I've heard of Friendly plastic, I've never used it, but I know that its a low melting point plastic and that it is sometimes used in the making of movie props and make-up prostetics. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

He's right as far as I know. I haven't used it either but people do use it for many things. You may want to ask in a Cosplay or Crafting forum. The melting point is 160 degrees farenheit. The plastic does accept details and is paint friendly. Acrylics work well. Just don't ever leave it by a blowdryer or heater. It will melt back to that spongey putty stuff. Other than that???

I do plan on researching the method using 100% silicone caulk, like GE I or GE II, or DAP 100% Silicone Caulk as a mold, possibly thinned with paint thinner. Then Bondo for the casting resin with talc. This is used by taxidermist, sculptors, customizers, and also for stage props.

Well, I happen to be a member of the Replica Prop Forum. I guess I could ask the same question in the general modeling section about the Friendly Plastic.

Like I said, I've look through a lot of possible DIY methods just to see what's out there and what techniques can be applied to casting with a regular mold kit. There's a ton of stuff out there.

Updated! Got some money to burn? Sure we all do, RIGHT!? Well, if you ever wanted a custom head sculpt of yourself or a friend/ loved one, maybe commemorate someone you lost, and wanted more detail than what you see in those 3D print outs, then check this site out.

I have a question relating to this, would it be possible for me to send a figure out to a caster to get some sort of copy made? I have a figure from a discontinued line that I'd really like to customize but I really don't want to break into the figure when I only need the torso from it, and I'd like to be able to get a few copies of the torso.

If only there was. Unfortunately there isn't any casted pieces other than the head available. I really wish someone would cast BAF pieces that way we wouldn't have to pay ridiculous prices for them! :D

Oh, by the way, castingcave is a link on the first page of this thread. Back when I did reported his update. I thought I mentioned the torso, guns, swords, zippo, etc.

No guarantee Galactape but I would say a good possibility. In my experience from doing custom sculpts, I would try the customizers that cast including, BZ, Black Arachnis, and ask CK.
Best contact methods for them IMHO- BZCustoms by Facebook. Very good possibility there. BlackArachnis pm through thefwoosh or castingcave. CamcoKid his site ckcasting is the best bet for contacting him I've found.

I would have to keep that in mind, I found someone with a real one though.
