Need Help in Creating texture

Hi,
I would like to create some denim jeans type texture, specifically on the Marvel select Avengers Hulk.
Sculpting at the pants would increase the bulk quite a bit and thus reduce articulation. Are there ways to put some texture on it?
eg some painting techniques etc?

Maybe try going at it with a coarse sandpaper, first do horizontal strokes, then go vertical to create a kinda cross hatch pattern. You might have to tidy up a few bits of frayed plastic but I reckon it would work.

A stipple effect could get you the results you are looking for. It's basically base coating in a darker tone and use a lighter tone with a stiff bristle brush to get the stipple effect. I'm horrible at describing it, if you google it you'll get a better idea. If you google image search 'stipple effect' you'll be able to tell if it's what you'r looking for.

I did the same thing on the same figure. I heated it up and squeezed a patterned hand towel around the legs. Simple and fast, but don't burn yourself.

Just an Update,
In the end, I used a used a dremel to sand texture on the pants.
