I've done a couple for friends, but have had a few people from other sites inquire about commissions, I never know what sort of price to ask for, so I'm just curious what the going rates are. Appreciate anyone who can offer some insight, if you're uncomfortable talking here, please feel free to pm me.

It depends on what scale, what size character (regular vs. hulk size), how quickly they want it done and how intricate the design is. The most important thing to keep in mind is what do you think your time is worth. When you are figuring out the price don't worry about whether or not they will think it's too high. You're always going to get people that complain about price and tell you they can get it cheaper elsewhere, ignore these people they have no ideo how much time and effort goes into a custom. It's not your job to give them the price they want. I've had people complain about a 40 dollar commission and yell at me about it, but I've also had people happily pay 200 dollars.
The most important thing is that you are comfortable doing the custom for the price you quote and that you are getting fair compensation for your efforts.

I agree. Truth be told I've seen rates all over the place. Seen one guy who noted a starting price of $60 for all customs. Before figuring in parts and sculpt and whatnot. Another had a starting rate of $80. Of course, there was also a guy I heard once that charged upwards of $150 just for a repaint with parts provided. It can definitely be hard to gauge. I personally do a starting rate of $40. Of course, I work in 3 3/4". And that's my straight repaint price. Building off of the typical $10 cost for each figure these days.

And yes, there will always be someone to complain about the price. I've even been asked if I'll take cheaper for my EBay listings, which all start at $40. Had someone message me once and say a figure that size wasn't worth near $40. lol It happens. But, there's always someone who think it's worth the price. Been asked to make a figure and name my price a couple times. lol So yeah, just figure up what you think your time is worth and give it a shot. Everyone has their only methods and opinions. It may take a little trial and error, but you'll finally settle into something you like. Mine were all over the place for a while. lol
