Model Kits

Postby VariablePenguin » Thu Aug 17, 2006 6:16 pm

Here are some models I built in the past. Tell me what ya'll think:

Captain America

Ghost Rider

Wolverine

Thor

Luke Skywalker

Han Solo

Darth Vader

Captain America was the first model kit I'd built of a person.
Cap, Wolverine, and the Star Wars ones were all done before I discovered good paint and good painting techniques like dry brushing and washes (however it seems I did do some dry brushing on the icy rocks in Wolverine's base). I have most of them in a trunk underneath some heavy stuff so I may go back and fix that some day...
Ghost Rider was missing his chain in the kit for some reason (even though it was new) so I substituted a chain I clipped off of a Spawn figure and superglued in a thin wire for support.

Pfft, they still have flawless paint jobs. Or do they have crummy paint jobs and the lighting hides the detail?

No they have good paint jobs. They just don't look realistic. Wolverine looks like he jumped out of a cartoon and that is not the look I like.

He's a cartoon...that's what he's supposed to look like 8)

I like Thor the most.

NICE! I once built that Cap kit for a friend of mine. Thought it was pretty nice though I recall mine had some bad seams I had to fill around Caps shoulders. I really liked base. I did a black wash on mine to really bring out the detail.
