Hasbro marvel Legends wave 1 sucks

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

What up fellow Artists, I have a gripe that I have to get off my chest. What I'm about to say is going to be harsh and a lil bitter. The Hasbro Marvel Legends have been out for some time now and I just finished collecting them all and I have to say that for the most part I am very disappointed . Hercules face looked like he belonged to play schools rescue heros line along with banshee. The faces of Emma Frost and X3 Beast are down right disturbing, Frost looks like and old hag and beast looks kind of deformed (his eyes are too close together). The second gripe is the crappy half ass aproche to the articulation, they all seemed as if they cut corners to make each one (with the exception to planet hulk, who was just the reused mold of war hulk). The examples are in the feet and hands, all the figures feet and hands are solid parts, there is no toe joint or joints for the hands which was one of the main reasons that ML became so popular. The 3rd complain is that that paint jobs on the figures are little to non exsitant, they usually end up just using the plastic color and the paint jobs that do go on are so flat and plain that they look childish (lack of a better word). The last thing is that the way there put together is very different from the original ML line, this makes customizers jobs harder now because you can't just mix and match the old series with the new one, not without some adjustments. for instants the pegs can only fit for the new wave of ML. The head joints are not on a ball and socket but in some weird peg and hole thing.
The Hasbro ML line is also more expensive and comes with out a comic. The original series was and is cheaper and comes with a comic to give some story or explanation to the character, I know there were times that I bought a figure just becuse of its looks and felt a little sort of releif to know the back story of the character (call me silly). The packaging of the toybiz ML line was more durable and more stylish I think. The packaging for the hasbro figure seem cheap and corney, the whole thing is taped together and and gets damaged more easily (a problem for the hardcore collector who keeps them in the packaging).
My finale thoughts of the new marvel legends from hasbro is that It feels like they took something that was great and different with and edge to it and then they raped it and pimpied out with the end result of a watered down disney version of it self. I was a Marvel Legends fan and collector but now its gone. I haven't been more mad than when they came out the new ecw. They say a true fan knows when to bow out , well hasbro I'm out . Im going after the new Legendary heros.

jumping in here Geppeto I agree and disagree with you Hasbros ML had problems Emma's head sculpt sucked donkey balls. Banseeh needed a better skin tone jaudis skin is no cool, Iron man Ult. or no is not asian decendent of ghanghis khan, theats his enemy. Ult Iron man looks very little like the character in the book. Hercules looks kind of punch drunk (though I kind of think thats appropriate) Etc. It is their first line and they'll get better (crossing my fingers and my cross) with time. All this is opinion and lots of us agree and disagree about it. Its good to talk about it and glad you got it off your chest. Don't hold back I enjoy riviting conversation.
Heres a couple of notes to the conversation
1.) Opening a can of worms is better than letting them die and not woicing your opinion.
2.) Cussing (and yes I do my fair share) need to be left off the site (not because we need to protect the children they hear it at school and home anyway but to prove to them and ourselves there is no need amongest civilized people) My nephews and nieces are here regularly now checking out all of your ideas and designs to tell me what they want next. They know I swear and they are amazed at how well I censor myself online and when they are around. Ihave been complemented by them many times. And let me tell you I feel slightly better for trying to avoid the cussing but sometimes expltives are needed just do the Whole@#$@#@$ thing as censorship we'll all know how you feel we probably feel the same way.
3.) Hasbro is ripping us off especially with the 5 inch crap. (Oil prices and other excuses aside)
4.) check this forum out add your opinion http://www.figurerealm.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4030
5.) never apoligize for getting everyones panties in a twist they only get that way if you strike a nerve wether because your right or they disagree and want you to know it.

The scupting isint bad but the articulation sucks. I picked up the Lizard and its a good figure, but looks funny next to the rest of my stuff due to its saller size. Its too bad but they should have kept everything 6"

As long as the figures are in 6" scale, I don't complain!!!
Now the new Spider-Man and Fantastic Four figures, they're the ones that really suck.

Don't ever apoligize for getting us talking. There are ,like 10000000 porn sites online but were a little classier here . We don't want anyones mom seeing foul launge and not letting her kid post anymore. This is a free membership and everyone deserves to enjoy it. BTW welcome to the realm

with time indeed. Well put Hawk. Its just one wave people! look at all the TB series that sucked. But they got better, then worse, then great, most of the Hasbro (almost all) are the same cast anyway. I read this gripe all over the bards and its sorta getting old. I think it was Doc who said it best.. MATTER OF OPINION. I think wave one sucks too, but don't forget the crappy ones in the past. I mean c'mon, they used Ironman body for madneto..lol.

and you can't cuss because little ones might venture to the site (it is a toy site after all..lol)

The reason they are targeting them to younger kid is that all the older kid buy them already. I agree about the Emma but with time Hasbro wil improve.

Hey, thanks for the review! But uh, don't cuss next time, eh? (I know it's a "silly" rule because "everyone does it" but it's really really annoying)

Most of my thoughts are in these two topics, with some other thoughts scattered around the boards:

I agree wholeheartedly my friend......it's about enough to make one start collecting DC Heroes....but not.

Marvel Legends 2002-2006.
You will be surely missed.
