i'm trying to cast weapons in resin and need help

Posted in Custom Workstation

Anyone have ideas of how everyone does it? Doing it all in one piece might work if you can find a container the right size. Doing a 2 piece mold seems wasteful for guns and knives but good for swords. I really need help on this one.

I got some legos last night. Sadly it isn't enough to make a good enclosure for teh katana I want to copy. if it was my sword I could do this a lot more easily but since its mine I can't damage it and have to be very gentle.

I don't know what kind of mold material you're using, but I like to use Legos to build my mold boxes for one main reason: because a 1x1 brick is 1ml, you can pretty well figure out how much silicone you will need by multiplying width x height x depth to get the volume of the mold box. Depending on if you use the English system, you'll need to convert ml to ounces or cups: there are resources searchable online to do this.

Cool. I'd rather do one piece. I just need a container for the katana. Wish it was mine so I didn't have to worry about it breaking.

For smaller parts, I would suggest one piece mold, rather than 2 pieces molds.

cool. I just have to remember what my password is on there lol. I talked to kyle robinson and he says for a lot of smaller parts you need a pressure pot. I'm gonna stock up on weapons and then try.

many many good casting tutorials there. Very helpful people if you have questions too.
