Newb Seeking advice...

Posted in Custom Workstation

So I've wanted to make my own figures for a long while now, but whenever I think I'm coming close something winds up making making things harder on me. I have rather good sculpting skills but I really could stand some help from some people that have done this before.

I really just want to know what materials are best to use so the figures will maintain themselves as long as possible, what paint is the best to use, and most of all how to make joints. I'm not looking to create a super-articulate character like those spider-man figures but at least something where the arms have a rotating joint at the shoulders and legs, maybe knees and elbows. Does anyone know how someone makes these? I'd prefer they be made with the material that I make the rest of the figure with, except for the dowels or whatever one uses to keep them in place.

I've searched dozens of tutorials for hours but still can't find anything that tells me what I want to know. I really appreciate any help!

I use model master acryl, that stuff is awesome and can be found at freaking hobby lobby of all places.

I'm not sure thats entirely accurate. It sounds like he's trying to build a figure from scratch, in which case you might need some more advanced advice than Jins (admittedly awesome) tutorials can offer. I'd suggest checking out the tutorials on the fwoosh.
