shrinking parts

Posted in Custom Workstation

Is there a way to shrink parts down without making a mold of them? I have a spartan head I need to shrink a bit.

Actually the heat gun is how I got this thing apart. I'm tearing down the halo reach statue and making a custom figure of my friend's character. Sadly she now uses Kat's helmet which I don't have.

You could control it if you used a heat gun and tested it on a different part of the same figure first.

Ok, I agree with pock; the thing is that even if the plastic shrinks, it is not a controlled "shrinkage" (if this is the word) it is only accidental, so most chances are you will mess up your nice plastic head.

I had that happen when I was curing some sculpty on a figure I got off topnotch in a trade. Which really sUUcked cause the figure was a deal and a new one is like 80.00. Not only did it shrink but it warped. Actually the part I needed to shrink isn't being used anymore but now its a head I don't have an extra of lol.

Some kinds of plastic do shrink when you cook them. I had this happen on an early custom of mine before I knew what I was doing.

I don't think there is a way. The plastic part you have has already dried up and reached it's final form
