Black guy skin help.

Posted in Custom Workstation

So with light and warm flesh base existing, its not terribly hard to mix a generic white guy skin base. With a few sand and wood tones I have I've been able to make more olive and native american style skin tones. For the life of me I can't figure out which colors to mix to get a proper black guy skin. I'd really like to make a nice BA Barackas, Terry Crews, and also my femme fatale figures complete... But I lack the right skin tone paint. Anyone have any tips or brands they'd suggest for getting a nice mocha or mahogany skin tone?

Definitely the tones I needed to track down, now if only I could get a reasonably priced Clubber Lang head sculpt.

I usually use Apple Barrel nutmeg brown, and tint it darker, or lighter, as needed. Some people will tell you that Apple Barrel acrylics suck, well, I guess I suck then.

Here are three examples of (unaltered, straight from the bottle) nutmeg brown skin tone on black mini action figures that I've made from scratch in the past:

Human Female (Final Fantasy Legend II/SaGa II: Hihou Densetsu)

Yeah, I know she's dressed in a stereotypical Native American fashion, but it was my intention from the beginning for her to be black (they're all depicted as white in the game, but I get sick of looking at nothing but Caucasian characters all the time, and as "human" is a generic all-encompassing descriptor, I feel I'm justified in changing her skin color to whatever shade I want).

Afrodite (Outlaw Tennis 2)

Michael Leroi (Shadowman--one of my favorite video games of all time, which is based on the comic book of the same name)
