I usually send entries that are not from comic books superheroes.Except if it's a comic book line themed contest.I love getting and doing Characters from the modern video games and old board games as well..

Yeah that works. In the future PM me with questions about entry specifics, that way your entry remains anonymous.

so my idea for a custom is a Marvel Character possessed by The Phoenix Force, does this fall under "specialised space gear" as the Phoenix Force resides in Space/The Shiar Galaxy? Thanks

Patraw, I completely understand what you saying and this is in no way a dispute, however the customs that you make differ from most that are submitted. While they are all master pieces in my opinion,(espeically the castlevania ones) the fodder is 100% sculpted, that is alittle different from what everybody and I are saying. not to mention you are very well known on the realm dude. you could be a co-creater for all we know. I love the realm. it gives me something to freaking do while my wife watches reba...Just kinda sucks to see when there is a good lesser known (but known) video game custom come through just to be over looked, while somebody makes a another bane or an acqua hulk (something weird like that)..anyways Im gonna keep cranking them out because its the best hobby in the world to me. In closing, I will say the only one who can win video game custom contest without making a marvel/DC custome is Loosecollector.

Three of the five trophies that I’ve won in Figure Realm custom contests were for lesser known video game characters, another was for a really obscure Dungeons & Dragons compatible tabletop RPG monster, and only one of my trophies was for a comic book character (who was a one-panel appearance from an old Golden Age comic that no one here had probably ever heard of), so, I’m living proof that you can win with obscure, non-comic submissions. If you take a closer look at the results of various contests here at Figure Realm, you will see that comic book customs aren’t always on top. I think the perception of a voting bias comes more from the volume of comic book characters that are submitted (if the majority of entries are characters from comic books, it stands to reason that, on average, they’re going to garner more trophies, simply based on numbers). I can only speak for myself, but I vote on the overall quality/creativity of the custom and how well if does, or does not, fit the contest theme, not on what it is or how familiar I am with the source material. Comic books, video games, movies/television, original designs, it doesn’t matter to me.

Yeah, I agree with sonic as well. I think it's all about familiarity. If somebody makes an awesome Hulk and somebody else makes an awesome, lesser-known video game character (or comic book character), I believe the character people are more familiar with will get more attention. It's easier to comment on, or give a higher score, if you are aware of the specific character/costume details and how well the customizer translated them. I'm guilty of it myself, with Transformers customs. I know absolutely nothing about TF characters, so somebody could make the awesomest TF custom in the world and I wouldn't know it.

gonna have to agree with sonicustoms, Made some really good customs myself but regardless it is all about hulk, archangels or freaking remakes or dark knignt bane. I think the dealpool eras is over guess we will see.

Patraw - Tuesday, April 30, 2013
A good custom is a good custom, regardless of whether the character comes from comic books, video games, or some other source material. Certainly, comic book characters are popular on Figure Realm, but I don't think that there's a voting bias towards them.

And keep in mind that there are dozens upon dozens of comic book based video games that were released before, and during, 1995, so it's highly likely that there will be at least some comic book characters submitted to this challenge.

I really like this contest! A lot of times most of the votes go to things that are comic based, figure realms isn't as fond of video game characters as they are comic book super heroes, so this is a nice change of pace!

Sorry but it has to be in scale with something, otherwise there is no point to the contest. If there was never a toyline, then choose one of the common scale (3 3/4, 6, or 12 inch).

does it have to be INSCALE to a certain toy line?
for example can I do a six inch robin figure but not made to be specificly in the same scale as any batman line but its still a small character, or again for example Virgil or Max from 'mighty max' toys and cartoon....there was never a action figure toy line so could I make him in any scale?

can we enter a our own ideas/our own take on a dc character, for example a nolan-verse style mr freeze or harley? or does it have to be something that dc comics have actually created themselves at some point?

C'mon man, who doesn't know Carl For 5 inch scale anything 4 inches or smaller is acceptable, a 3.75 inch figure would be well within the rules.

So, let's say we wanted to do Carl, to go with Rick from the Walking Dead. Since the Walking Dead series is 5 inches, could one use a 3.75 inch figure to do Carl? (If you're not aware of what I'm talking about, Carl is a child, Rick is an adult.)

How do you remove a submission from the contest? I tried to use the monkey wrench but there isn't an option.

Hello, I just sent a reply to your IM but I'll post again here in case anyone else needs to know this. If you need to edit your entry for any reason just click on the wrench icon in the top right corner (it's right by the Custom#) and this will let you edit your listing.

Top 3 winners get the gold, silver and bronze medals...which are basically just for bragging rights. Medals will also give you more points for the leaderboard, which is also just for bragging rights.

Can we enter original concept looks for existing DC characters?
-- in reference to DC Nation by Captain Coder in Custom Contests
Green Skin - Tuesday, March 19, 2013
No, not at all. Figures have to be around 80% or less for the standard size figures for that scale. So in the 6-inch scale your entry can be no taller than 5 inches, he can be smaller than that but he can't be taller. You don't actually have to cut down an existing figure to 80% of it's original size. I'm assuming most people will use parts from smaller sized toy lines.

So no mater what size the action figure is...... You have to make it 80% of its current height?
