The Spider was one of the original Pulp heroes like the Shadow and Doc Savage. He has had several looks in his time, but the two best known are the monster and the shadow. The Monster was a look based on the typical pulp accents such as the black cloak/cape and slouch hat. To make the look different, Richard Wentworth (the Spiders alter ego) wore prosthetics such as fangs, a fright wig and occasionally a fake nose and hump) the idea was later used by Bruce Wayne, that criminals are all essentially superstitious and cowardly, and a fearsome appearance would give a psychological advantage. I custom made the head and re stitched an old van helsing coat. I gave him a beaten looking hat , two pistols and a sword cane.
