A bit of thought process goes into the dirty business of zombie making. Just so that each zombie will have their on unique twist and not repeat the same old tricks. Other than coming up with a design look, selecting the character to get the zombie treatment also requires some diabolical consideration. Pretty much, any character can be zombified, but to keep things interesting, it relies on choosing one that would be insane to imagine as a zombie. The decision to either go really scary/realistic looking or totally camp would depend on who that character was. A really decent zombie would have a bit of both qualities. And if the character is already formidable to begin with, adding the zombie factor just compounds its shock value.
Replaced the hands on the LCBH Conan with hands from a Devilman figure. The head is from a LOTR Lurtz, with hair cut from several other figures (including tails from toy horses), and sculpted over. Got the huge bloody axe from a Spawn Black Knight. The 3 arrows (one in his bicep, neck/shoulder) were made from bitsNpieces and designed to look more like tranquilizer darts rather than war arrows. Attempts were made to subdue this creature without killing it outright.
For the paint scheme, tried to imagine how a zombie would live in the Cimmerian Age, 7th century BC. If captured undead, like this specimen, it would most likely be used for the purposes of entertaining warrior tribes and warlords. It would undergo heinous torture, be burned alive, and pitted against other abominations of nature for spectacle. The paint detail needed to show some of these physical wounds.
Little do the warlords know who they actually have in captivity. Judging by his rabid expression, this zombie Conan has different plans for the evening entertainment - eat the entertainment, then escape.
Conan was never portrayed as a zombie in the comics, just thought he'd be cool running around as one. But a certain Rob Zombie might be directing the new Conan movie remake. Rumor or the real deal, we'll just have to wait it out.
Thanks for having a look at this!
