This is a custom figure of Isaiah Bradley aka the first or the black Captain America. The only survivor of the World War 2 U.S. government’s secret Tuskegee Experiments in which expendable “black” servicemen became guinea pigs to test what would become the Super Solider Serum. Gaining the power of the serum, Bradley now a classified a government secret over heard that the Nazi’s were close to completing their own serum. Bradley knew that with a working serum in Nazi hands, they would win the war. So Bradley did what any brave American would have, he went AWOL with a prototype Captain America uniform and shield and destroyed the Nazi serum facility. For all his effort he was unjustly court marshaled and sentenced to prison, as the U.S. government need to cover up the Tuskegee Experiments, Bradley’s mission, and his existence as a super soldier. The government wanted Captain America to be the face and embodiment of America meaning that face couldn’t be “Black”. During his time in jail, he was beaten and tortured until his once sharp mind became dulled the point he couldn't remember what happened five minutes ago. No longer deemed a security risk, he was set free to be with wife and daughter. Now considered an urban myth, Isaiah’s heroic legacy lives on in his unknown son Josiah and the Young Avenger Patriot.
This custom was made from Marvel Selects Zombie C. America torso , ML Hulking legs, WWE Bobby Lashley head, and other figure odds & ends.
Customizer side note: For a character that wasn’t even supposed to be in regular Marvel continuity, Isaiah Bradley certainly made a big impact. His son and grandson now heroes in the Marvel Universe, he has his own alternate reality where he became both first Captain America and the first Black president of America, and the respect of super hero community as seen during the Black Panther Wedding. If that doesn’t deserve a custom I don’t know what does, so instead of going with the total Cap uniform I customized this figure with the uniform design seen in Young Avengers presents #1.
