Well, let's start by saying I am a huge X-Men fan. My list of favorite mutants range from veeeeery popular (like Nightcrawler or Psylocke) to relatively obscure (like Arclight or Thunderbird III) X-characters. Husk is a mutant that falls in the latter of those options. Seeing as how she would most likely never be made into an official figure, I decided to try my hand at customizing.
I found a Supergirl figure (yes, the blue skirt chase figure. Sorry Kara fans!) that had a suitable Husk head. I cut off the cape and attached it to her lower torso. From that point onwards, it was just the use of apoxy. One disadvantage I have living in Bangladesh is that I can't really find proper customizing tools and such. Even then, I think it turned out well, if a little unrefined. The jacket, top, chain, X-Logo, boots and gloves have all been sculpted using apoxy. I added reddish purple and blue-gray layers on the top and skirt to get their desired color. For the Jacket, I applied a crimson base coat and then added dark red, black and peach washes to flesh it out. For the embossed linings and such, I applied a yellow basecoat and then highlighted it with clear gold. Same goes for the X-Symbol and the Chain. As a final touch, I made a little tan orange color and applied it on the
Well, that's about it. For a first custom, I think it turned out pretty good!
