Space Ghost Custom Action Figure

Custom #:1402
Name:Space Ghost
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Space Ghost
Creator:VariablePenguin
Date Added:December 21, 2006
Base Figure:DCSH Superman
Height:6.20 inches
I've been meaning to do this figure for a long time ever since I saw the DCSH Superman figure. I scuplted on the mask, chest emblem, powerbands, and belt buckle and I scuplted over Supe's boot cuffs. As you can tell, I painted every last bit of him. I never really watched the original cartoon from Hanna Barbara, but I watched "Space Ghost Coast to Coast" a while back and I read the comic that recently came out from DC and I love the look the character. I think his cape in the cartoon was yellow on both sides, but the comic has it have a black exterior like Robin's so I went with that look.

Okay, I fixed his head. You can see in the pics on the main page for him.

I might adjust the eyes a little before I put the sealant on to keep that freaking white from chipping in the joints like it is.

...make it more square!
Just messin' with ya, looks fine. Although maybe the eyes could be more triangle-shaped

Okay. I think I fixed the head problem. And now that I did, darn did it suck before.
I just Dremeled and sanded it down until it looked about right.
This look right to y'all?
Now he actually seems to have eyebrows and facial expression.

VariablePenguin - Friday, December 22, 2006
Yeah, I guess I didn't sand off enough of Superman's hair. I just emailed and order to that site. I ordered a bunch of stuff (like 12 heads) to get my moneys worth.

xD
And yeah, his head is supposed to be flater
White primer should work, that stuff is designed to not come off

Yeah, maybe...

actually yea, black anarchis heads are nicely casted. I bought 27 of em...^_^ some of em have little holes due to air bubbles, but nothing big and can be easily done. I'd wait for the auctions he puts up, you save more on that....

you can order a DC Direct Hush Batman Head from Black Arachnid Sculpts. 2 bucks if you have the patience. I bet you could stock up on lots o' heads in one order too.
VariablePenguin - Friday, December 22, 2006
Bah!!! I'll f'ing get a Batman and cut his ears off then... I just didn't feel like spending $8 on a figure I don't "need" and wanted to keep this guy down to 1 figure. I get 'I'm tomorrow.
bastards

no affense, but his head is sorta goofy shaped..lol
VariablePenguin - Friday, December 22, 2006
Here's a photoshopped picture I did:
Space Ghost is such a bad bum he doesn't have a logo on his chest. He just has a picture of himself.
Kyle Robinson - Friday, December 22, 2006
oh! Don't spray that stuff on any soft rubber. good call, take the cape off.
VariablePenguin - Friday, December 22, 2006
Okay. I'll give it a whirl. I'll probably have to rip his cape off first though.

get some of that matte acryl sealer from my tutorial. I only use it on light colors like yellow or WHITE. it should work wonders on your custom. ITS NOT GLOSSY! so don't worry. Somtimes you can't even scratch it off with your finger nail. Try it out.
VariablePenguin - Thursday, December 21, 2006
The only problem I'm having is the paint keeps chipping in jointed areas like under his arms and shoulders.
Kyle Robinson - Thursday, December 21, 2006
sweet! looks like a nice easy custom. I bet you had fun making it. great job vp.
VariablePenguin - Thursday, December 21, 2006
Yeah Batman may have been a good choice, but then I'd have to get a Batman for just his head.
Dr Nightmare - Thursday, December 21, 2006
.....I like the BATMAN face more But then I guess he would look to ticked off.
ratboy - Thursday, December 21, 2006

Hand painted, yo! I don't do decals.
Gee_jays_Customs - Thursday, December 21, 2006
cool! I like how the emblem on the chest came out? Hand painted? or decal? either way it came out perfect! ^_^
