Powerful ice golems, created by high-level wizards, that can be randomly encountered in the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) video game Dragon Warrior III. After defeating a Glacier Basher, an adventurer may find a Mystery Hat (which lowers the MP cost of spells when worn) buried in the icy remains of the creature. Glacier Bashers are stronger than their molten cousins, the Lava Bashers, but weaker than their glittering relatives, the Gold Bashers. Glacier and Lava Bashers are natural enemies and will fight each other on sight, often resulting in the simultaneous destruction of both in a shower of steam.
A Glacier Basher possesses immense strength and can administer a devastating blow with its frozen fist. These frigid titans can also exhale two different kinds of respiratory attacks: The first, blizzard breath, sends a gale of ice and snow at the Glacier Basher's opponents, inflicting freezing damage. The second, sweet breath, lulls anyone who inhales it into a deep sleep, leaving them at the mercy of the Glacier Basher. These monsters blend in very well with the arctic regions they call home; it is very difficult to differentiate a Glacier Basher from the surrounding landscape until it is too late. In fact, adventurers often unknowingly walk on, and awake, sleeping Glacier Bashers, much to their misfortune.
Constructed entirely of chunks of ice, a Glacier Basher's greatest weakness is heat; fire will melt these fearsome foes quickly. These creatures are deadly, but also slow and clumsy--an agile opponent can outmaneuver them with relative ease.
