(I made this for the Clown Contest, but I'm too impatient to wait until the entry period/voting is over, so I decided to just submit it as a regular figure instead.)
Dual mace-wielding jesters that first appeared in Enix's 1990 Dragon Warrior II (original Japanese title: Dragon Quest II) Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) video game. Said title was also later ported to the MSX, Super Famicom, and Gameboy Color systems. The enemies Evil Clown and Mace Master share the same game sprite, but differ in color/capabilities (recycling enemies is a common programming practice).
In addition to cracking skulls with their pointy bludgeons, Evil Clowns are accomplished magicians. Their repertoire of spells includes Healall (restores the hit points of one character completely), Firebane (creates an inferno that burns all opponents), Increase (temporarily raises the defense of the Evil Clown and its allies), and Defense (temporarily decreases your party's resistance to damage). These monsters have 67 hit points (HP) and each one that you defeat will net your party $48 and 84 experience points. If you're lucky, you might find a Wizard's Wand (a low-powered melee weapon, most suitable for the Princess of Moonbrooke) after defeating an Evil Clown.
