The year is 2025 over fifteen years has past since the apocalyptic destruction caused by the villainous AI known as Ultron unleashed it’s final plan that took the lives of over 80% of the human population on the planet. It all began with the Skrulls abduction of Henry (Yellow Jacket) Pym, Ultron’s creator or Father and how by Ultron’s calculations at anytime during his imprisonment the Skrulls could have just easily killed Pym when he was replaced by a Skrull impersonator. Infuriated by the thought that some intergalactic grunt could have taken away from it the prize of his Father’s death, an honor it believed to be reserved only for it and with the amount of enemies Pym has ranked up it would be only a matter of time before this accolade would slip through his cold metal fingers. So Ultron decided to end this game of cat and mouse it has played with it’s Father for years. Stockpiling an army of nuclear powered Ultron duplicates, Ultron set them loose at specific points on the globe, heroes from all over the Earth battled Ultron’s army only to die when it pushed a single button detonating it’s nuclear powered army killing a massive amount of humans in the surrounding the blast sites and over the years even more as the specific points that were targeted had been where the planet’s tectonic plates were considered the weakest and those nuclear blast shifted those plates moving the continents and creating natural disasters that killed humans for many years to come.
One of the heroes on the scene of the nuclear disaster of 2010 was Anthony (Iron Man) Stark. Wearing his model 14 Hulkbuster Armor that could withstand massive amounts of damage, Tony fought valiantly against the superior forces of Ultron with his fellow Avengers, but the nuclear self-destruction of the Ultron forces ended all hope of victory for the Avengers that day. Tony watched his friends died right before his eyes as the Hulkbuster armor withstood the brunt of the nuclear explosion, but not without some damage. The seams of the suit were compromised allowing nuclear radiation to leak inside poisoning Stark. Too sick to fully repair the armor, Stark gave minor repairs so that it may continue on, as Stark feared his other armor depots around the world to be destroyed. In the time he had left Stark scrapped together parts from other armors, fallen hero weapons, robots, and cybernetics he could find and attached them to the armor he knew he would die in, his Iron Coffin. His valor in these dark days was enough that he was considered worthy enough lift Thor’s enchanted hammer. As one of the last super powered beings left, Stark continued to save every life he could until his death. One factor that Stark did not count on was the Extremis virus hidden in his bone marrow. The virus had copied Stark’s brain pattern into it’s own programming and with his brain no longer functioning the virus from Stark’s dead and decaying frame was sending out signals to the Iron Coffin armor as if it was Stark its self. Now 15 years after the death of Anthony Stark his legacy still lives on as a ghost in the machine continuing his valiant struggle saving every human it can as well as battling against the forces of Ultron who seeks the destruction of all human life.
ARMOR SCHEMATICS UPDATE:
RIGHT ARM – absorbing most of the damage from the initial nuclear explosion, the armor on that arm frayed away leaving the titanium exoskeleton frame underneath intact. Having lost the hand component, Stark integrated a mark 6 Sentinel’s chest disintegration cannon onto the arm.
LEFT ARM – This arm suffered minor damage in the blast, but during battles with Ultron’s forces the fingers on the hand have received massive injury. Stark took into account the tactical advantage of Wolverine’s claws when he redesigned the missing digits, thus with the adamantium shells of discarded Ultron robots he made claws instead of fingers that could cut through almost anything and to protect the rest of the hand he incorporated Captain America’s damaged shield as protection as well as a symbol of hope to the human population.
LEFT SHOULDER – Taken from the armor of the Titanium Man, unlike the Hulkbuster armor’s shoulder pads that absorb solar energy, Titanium Man’s pads absorbs radiation that is in abundance from the nuclear fallout. Attached to the pad is model 11 War Machine’s gattling cannon loaded with adamantium rounds and probably the most important weapon in the Iron Coffin’s arsenal is a molecular destabilizer made by Victor Von Doom to weaken the adamantium shells of the Ultron forces.
MID BODY – A connection station that not only reinforces the entire frame, but could be used to add extra armaments. These armaments include model 1 Iron man armor arm flamethrower and model 23 Thorbuster armor tech to attach Thor’s near invincible hammer to the armor as a weapon and alternative mystic power source.
LEGS – With the original armor’s legs damaged and fused together by the explosion, Stark used the legs from a mark 7 Crimson Dynamo which were incredibly durable and strong, the only down side was the lack of booster rockets on the feet.
FLIGHT PACK – Dual rockets and anti gravity generator built by Reed Richards for a new unmade version of the Fantasti-car, gattling weapon system modified by Stark to fire corrosive acid bullets. This pack is instrumental to the flight of this armor due to its sheer weight.
