Ben Reilly: The All New Spider-Man
Tricked into believing he is the true Spider-Man, Ben Reilly creates a new costume for himself and helps his clone brother Peter Parker battle evil. Ben dyes his hair blonde so that people don’t realise that Peter and him are identical.
Ben Reilly comes with an alternate, unmasked head, his mask to hold in his hand and a webbing back pack.
Body: Parachute Spider-man
Hands: McFarlane Spider-man
Unmasked head: ML Longshot
Ben was even simpler than the Scarlet Spider. Just a pain in the arse to paint! I had to hand paint all those web lines and that took a long time and a steady hand.
Like with Spider-Carnage and any of my detailed line work, I use negative space to get the line really thin. Essentially I paint a line and then bring the colour (in this case, red) in from either side to get the line just the way I want it. I’ve never been a fan of sculpted webs on Spider-Man figures as while it helps the factory to paint correctly, I always think it doesn’t reflect what the costume is supposed to be. And besides, I’m just not skilled enough to sculpt or dremel all those lines myself!
Ben again has the magnetic heads, an unmasked piece, and he also has a backpack for him to carry his high heels and tampons in. The backpack is sculpted and the strap holding it is from X-men Classics Beast.
