After he injured his back in a swimming accident, Olympic swimmer Todd Arliss underwent a procedure which blended his DNA with that of a shark and the ruler of Atlantis, Namor the Sub-Mariner. He became a villain and his constant battles with Namor and the Avengers led him to join teams such as the Lethal Legion and the Masters of Evil.
To craft this figure, I used a Stealth Venom body with an Ultimate Sabretooth head. Special thanks to Madtinker76 for the recipe (and the correspondence). The ears are from 2-pack Nick Fury, the fin and arm/leg 'decorations' are made from rubber bungee cord and costume separation with label tape. In attaching the Sabretooth head and neck to the Venom body, I had to grind down the neck peg to make it 'sit' right, trying to keep the articulation in the neck. It was all for naught, however, since I had to glue the fin to both the head and the body. ARRG!!
I really enjoyed the painting process on this figure, and am happy with the results. I primed the whole figure with matte black. The torso/arms/legs were dry-brushed with two different oranges, then topped off with yellow. The rest of the body was dry-brushed purple, then lightly covered with gray. Although hard to see in the pics, I carved in the gills on his cheeks as well. Photos by Nara and myself. Thanks for stopping by, feel free to comment, and Make Mine Marvel!
