How is it possible that the main character of a hit anime full length feature, TV series and a comic book doesn't have his own figure? This was the question that brought me to the conclusion that I had to make Jubei into plastic form. He has always been one of my favorite characters, thus here he is. Here is a little back story from absolute anime before the recipe: Jubeii is a self hiring Ninja who roams the side of feudal Japan. He meets up with an old man named Dakuwan. Together, with a female ninja named Kagero, the battle against the evil Shogunate government. Unfortunately for these 3, the government has the 8 devils of Kimon, who prove to be quite lethal adversaries. Jubei is known for his expert sword fighting, and lightning fast body attacks. Of course no hero would be ready to fight without cunning intelligence as well!
Head - SOTA Fei Long (Sculpted hair and pony)
Entire body is SOTA Fei-Long. I dremeled his ankles down and sculpted his shin guards, sandals and part of the pants.
The GI is from a SOTA Ken. The sleeves were cut from an Afro Samurai Kuma. I shaved them down and added sculpt to mesh.
The wrist guard is a dremeled out Marvel Legends Ronin wrist. The sheath and sword were from the Kuma as well. I added some string and painted the sheath red. I also added a translucent, elastic string (which can be removed) which he uses in the Ninja scroll movie to retrieve his sheath when it is knocked away. I drilled a whole in a fist so he could grasp his sword. The hat was made from complete scratch. I cut a circle out of plastic, then cut a triangle out of the side (think Pac-Man), overlapped the cut and super-glued it. I then sculpted the straw look on top and super-glued an elastic band inside (with a knot tied in the middle to replicate his hat from the movie). I hope you guys enjoy looking at Jubei as much as I did making him.
