I rendered Sunder in the classic X-Men strike team uniform as he appeared on the cover of Uncanny X-Men #254 (December 1989). In that issue Banshee and Forge form an ad-hoc team of X-Men to protect the Muir Island Mutant Research Center from the invading cyborg Reavers. After the Mutant Massacre the Morlock strongman Sunder had sought sanctuary on Muir Island and unfortunately was the first to fall at the hands of the Reavers.
