One of my favorite villains of the Marvel universe has always been Apocalypse. Ruthless and pure evil, Apocalypse has been the ultimate evil to me. He doesn't seek his own brand of peace, he doesn't seek his own twisted sense of order - he wants unending war and competition to be the best. And as soon as I saw the preview pics of the classic blue Iron Monger from the Iron Man 2 comic line, the first thing I thought of was making Apocalypse.
I repainted the Monger with different shades of blues mixed with some boltgun metal black for a more metallic look. I pulled out the chest symbol and was going to sculpt over it, but I found this little blue stone - an accessory from a Stargate figure - and thought it would be a cool piece of the armor to make it slightly more organic and mystical. Next I popped off the head, grabbed an Apocalypse II figure, the old Toy Biz figure with interchangable arms, and transpolanted that to the Monger body and voila - a malevolent self-proclaimed mutant messiah!
