I did this custom a couple of years back, after I'd just finished watching the original, I decided to create my own which was funny because one night while I was adding parts to it the trailer for the remake popped up on t.V. At the time I did't know they were doing a remake so I thought this is perfect timing for my tribute to the film. I not long touched it up a bit as it was getting a bit tatty but anyway, I got an action man figure, stitched some dark blue coveralls for him then darkened them a touch with a sponge dabbed in black paint, then I used some leather for the belts and painted them brown.
The boots came with the figure, painted the hands black, the air line attachments were just a piece of an erasure painted black then glued to the sides of the belt, then I stuck some wire in and used a bendy straw to connect to the mask. The actual mask is just a piece of black circular leather with the eye and mouth pieces glued on. The helmet is made from putty were I then got a pocket torch and fitted it into, I had to cut a hole into the figure head so that the torch would rest properly on the helmet. I also had to find a way to cut the torch down to size without destroying it but I manage to pull it off.The pick axe I put together using a piece of wood and card which I then went over in putty.
