I was tossing around ideas for this contest, and kept coming back to Star Wars and Samurai Vaders and Armored Jedi Knights. So when I found a cache of Prince of Persia Figures for a buck each at the dolla store I thought they'd make good alternate concept Star Wars figures.
The back story:
In the ancient middle-east there was once a grand republic that spanned continents and political borders. The republic was guarded by mystic warriors known as the Jedi Knights, who wielded strange powers, and carried distinctive "lightning swords".
But lurking in the shadows was a sinister splinter group known as "Sith". After the "Great Wars" the Sith Rose to power led by a mysterious and powerful Dark emperor whose chief lieutenant was Darth Vader, formerly Anakin StarKiller one of the greatest of the Jedi Knights. Vader and his Dark Master hunted and killed all but a few of the Jedi Knights and scattered them to four winds. Vader's former Jedi Master, Obiwan, attempted to stop the bloodshed, and was defeated by his former student in combat. Vader took Obiwan's lightning sword as a trophy, and Obiwan fled into the desert.
After years in isolation Obiwan's mind has become fractured and little reamins of the glory of the knight he once was. With the absence of the Jedi the Sith seized power and created an Empire that spanned the breadth and depth of the old Republic. Years later dissent has crept in and a rebellion has formed. Inspired by a youth Obiwan discovered to be none other than Vader's son, Obiwan donned his armor once more and picked up his newly constructed "lighting staff" to confront his former student...
