I've seen a few Ryu Hayabusa customs done, all awesome looking with his current X-box look, the one with the big silver headband. But I'm oldschool and can never forget what hooked me long ago on the Nintendo; the original Ninja Gaiden trilogy games. The storylines, the first use of cinema scenes, I was blown away. So to honor the original games, I give you the original Ryu!

Ryu was made from a Hasbro Ultimate Wolverine Ml figure with Quicksilver's head. I was going to just use Wolvie's head but the eyes were too slanted and he had wrinkles! Quick's head fit right on the post and I only needed to shave it down. All of Ryu's mask, neck-wrap, and front gi portion is apoxie sculpt. I tweaked the hands and bit and split the toe to make the tabi-boot look. I really worked on the eyes and face (what you can see of it) to hopefully pay homage to the old cinema scenes where you got a closeup of his brown eyes.

But he needed weapons and 'magic Ninja arts'! The flamewheel fire art was made from wire and Sigma 6 Firefly's gauntlet flames. The blast fire art was Iron Fist's flames with more red to them. I made a Windmill star and of course, found a nice katana to serve as his legendary Dragon sword! Hope you like em.

Hey thanks! After a few more TFs I'm going to do version 2 without the six pack, red forearme wrap, and some other changes to reflect the arcade version.

1989? Was it really that late? I got my NES in 1986, and I thought I remembered it being one of the first games...

Nija Gaiden was released in March of 1989 here in north america... It was HUGE! I think Jin turns 30 this year so he knows his classic games.
Exellent fig Jin, I naver played the new ones so this is how I know Ryu, CLASSIC.

that figure is incredible man. I've got to say that is byfar THE BEST ryu hayabusa I have ever laid eyes on. Absolutely amazing, it looks like a figure ready for the shelves on our local comic shops, I would buy it. I play the DOA series constantly and am just blown away by this, the accessories are sick too. Now I want this figure, NEOW!!
Punstarr - Saturday, June 23, 2007
Never heard of Ryu from Ninja Gaiden?! Wow... wait, how old are you? I played all the games growing up. If you're younger than I am it may have been before your time.
But what a fig! Nice job on... well, everything!

Hah, great job converting an otherwise useless figure! Mask looks cool and all, the shading on the body looks a little too thick though (especially on the thighs)

I have never heard of him but now I wish I have awesome custome jin.
