Travel deep enough into infinity (and beyond!) and you'll probably run into this thing.
The idea was to make a "King Alien", not in the sense of governing a race or species, but just a creature of magnificent poise, adorned with crown-like spikes on its head. Being larger in size than most Aliens also gave it that regal look.
Did a lot of changes to it, and kept moving the parts around until it began to take its own shape. It was like working on a 3-D puzzle, while reconstructing the bones from an old mysterious dinosaur. There was no picture or completed model to copy from, so basically took relevant parts and worked them into the figure where ever they could fit. Finally started to look right when the arms were replaced with thinner ones, and the head was just so enormous that the mid-section needed to be lengthened to give the figure more height.
The other tricky part, while making it, was to know when to quit and lay off the overkill with the spikes and detailing. It began to look too busy and distracted from the construct of the design.
head - Mcfarlane Dog Alien
crown - forearms from Mantis Alien, spikes from Wild Boar Alien, weaponry from Mcfarlane Techno Spawn
body - Mantis Alien upper, McF Alien lower body
arms/legs - Mcfarlane Dragon
tail - Alien Queen, with scythe from McF Techno Spawn
Probably one of the more difficult Aliens to make from this series - in terms of fitting all the pieces proportionally and getting this lanky, top-heavy, wobbly-legged beastie to stand up-right on its own. Also did a lot of minor sculpting, going over the details and reinforcing the shape with apoxie. Had almost thought to end the series here with this one, but a chess set just isn't complete without its Queen. Thanks for checking this out, Predalien Queen next...
