Every household has a head honcho, and with every Alien colony, they have a Hive Master. Its main function is to activate Alien drones for duty, awakening them from cryostasis in their cell chambers. Try to imagine this creature as the character Morpheus from the movie Matrix, where his mission was to locate Neo and resuscitate him from the machines. Being one of the biggest bugs in the universe, it resembles a wasp or hornet and on its home world, The Hive Master scours the catacombs, searching for those ready for designation. Besides having the duty of Alien activation, it chooses certain Drones to convert into select warriors by secreting a substance similar to royal jelly during metamorphosis. These warriors will eventually emerge from their cells with the necessary skills to best serve the hive.
Sculpt work was done over a Halcyon Alien head, added plastic visor in the front and sculpted removable jaws. Designed the head huge, using a partial Queen Alien head at the top of the totem, and broke off pieces of bat wings from several Bat vehicle accessories to build the rest of the head gear. A Wild Boar Alien body was attached as the back of head, and fragments of clear red marble were embedded into the front section, creating a mosaic of texture and color. The body is a partial Halcyon Alien kit mixed with a McFarlane Alien Spawn arms/legs. Got the wings from a dollar store toy insect, and enabled articulation by adding a pivot feature.
Base coat gunmetal black, with automotive paint cobalt blue and teak color hi-lights.
This concludes the bug safari, will definitely return to deep space next time to search out new hybrids and meet the monsters up close. Thanks for checking them out!
