I've loved this character sense I saw him in the last days of animal man comics. The idea of a whale green lantern for some odd reason struck me as brilliant. My first attempt to put him into action figure form was far from optimal but with the help of fellow figurerealm member bob-a-ferret I was able to get hold of this wonderful base figure. I started off this custom by cutting the base figure into pieces and adding joints to it. The joints in the tail are the leg from a john Stewart figure sculpted over. The joints on the other fins are a combination of spiderman classics tarantula shoulders combined with john Stewart ankles and a lot of dremmeling and sculpt. After that I dremmeled off all of the barnacles on the original base figure and added a tone of sculpt. I resculpted the entire bottom of the figure, the mouth, eyes, and around all the new joints and many other small details. I used part of a plastic medicine cup for the ring with some sculpt for the symbol. The clear green lantern symbol above his head was cut from blister packaging and painted with many layers of tamya clear green and a couple layers of clear yellow. Then I mounted it on a couple clear rods to give the impression that it floats above his head as it does in the comic. The flight stand is the bottom part of a globe modified to fit the whale and he is completely removable from it. After that I just gave him a full repaint to finish him up. whew that one was a lot of work......
