There have been some wonderful Leatherface action figures out there, and I was more than thrilled when Mezco released the hitchhiker but I still never saw anyone giving Sally her due and immortalize her in action figure form. So I took it upon myself and used McFarlane's Erin from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake and painted her with acrylic paints. The original figure started off with blue bellbottoms, a white top, brown hair and no blood. I corrected most of these issues to bring Marilyn Burns' original "final girl" to life. I did two versions, one with the blood at 3/10 and the other around 7/10. I used a combination of brushes, needles and dried paint to fill in the cracks and get enough variation in the blood smears to make it look like she received them a variety of ways. I mixed most of the paint to give it an off color and give her clothes variations of wear. For the blood, I used several different mixes of red with grey, brown and black for the desired redness or darkness. The bloodier version even has the blow she suffered to the back of her head by a sledgehammer, complete with a slight oozing of brain matter. I like to think Marilyn Burns would be happy with this likeness of the character Sally.
