So I loved the movie, am a huge Mickey Rourke fan, and desperately wanted an armored Whiplash/Vanko. I know there IS a Hasbro prototype of it out there, but who knows IF they'll ever use it? So I made my own, starting with the Sea Assault drone. I removed his legs and arms at the middle joints, dished out the elbow and trimmed the edges to allow lateral movements on the arms. I then took the arms from a fodder Weapons drone and lower legs from a damaged Ground Assault Drone. I then modified the head of the Ivan Vanko IM2 figure, gave the hair a slight darkening(which I don't feel is even noticeable) and gave the rest of the body a flat black base coat, then layered on sterling silver and dry brushing two layers of gun metal. The whips were painted with Testors acrylic Clear Blue, with random unpainted spots to allow light reflection. I had hoped that leaving little silvery spots might give the impression of moving current, and after a couple coats of Clear Blue, I feel the whips have a nice 'lit' effect, less metallic than I saw from one or two coats. All in all,I may not measure up to the other Whiplash armor customs here, but I think its this amateur's shining moment thus far, and I hope you enjoy!
