For those not familiar with the character, GrimJack is an IDW character originally run in the 1980s but recently reprinted and given at least one miniseries. GrimJack is a detective/mercenary/assassin/independent contractor in the multiversed/pandimensional city of Cynosure, where all realities phase in and out at random, forever changing the landscape of the city itself(save for a few stable areas). John Gaunt was the original incarnation of GrimJack and the subject of this custom.

The dirty details? He was a Captain America from the Marvel Universe toyline, legs swapped with a Spiderman Marvel Universe figure, hands and shirtbib taken from Bucky MU, head off of Weapon X from the Wolverine Origins toyline. Sword and pistol came from a GI Joe, cape from Palisades toys Army of Darkness Ash. Full sanding of the Cap torso, little bit of work on the boot area, repaint on the whole figure, Delta Dark Blue, Delta Gold, Delta Yellow, Testors Dark Tan on the pants, Liquitex Titanium white on the 'mean streak' in his hair, a quick black wash over the body(overpowered the blue shirt in a few areas, upper chest mostly),some grey dry brush, and add a painted beret (beret from Marauder Gun Runner) then voila!

Just for reference, I'm including a pic of one of the comic covers.
In all honesty, this guy FLEW together for me. This is the first time I've had a custom that went together so easily and I couldn't be happier with him! ENJOY! Originally written 12/3/11

So I just went back through to look at my works here...and I'll be reshooting everyone now that I have a pro grade photo rig (scored lights and a fold down cube tent of reflective material on the cheap!) and new camera...also, I shook my head when I looked at these, because I sanded the Cap fig's scales, then stippled the blue paint prior to the black wash...and it looks like I shouldn't have even wasted the time sanding! Very scale like appearance. Oh well. Live and learn?

Thank you, that is high praise. Folks like you and OJJ and others who have given me positive feedback really help me steer towards what I'm doing right. Really, a big thank you to everyone. Good to know I'm moving (slowly) in the right direction.

Thanks O.J.J. Actually this guy, and Tremor, were done around the same time as the other two. But I have a dozen WIPs waiting for me to get back to as soon as I feel up to it. AoA stuff, some old favorite characters, and my original bunch of mutants based off my friends and myself. Just gotta get back in the groove.
